The proteins that yogurt contains turn it into the perfect emergency medicine for dry, brittle and damaged hair. Giving your locks a simple yogurt treatment will immediately make them softer and restore their shine.

Yogurt will also strengthen the hair follicle, and you will notice the difference right after your first treatment.

In my experience, yogurt masks can also be used to overcome scalp problems like dandruff and itchiness. Yogurt is a wonderful source of beneficial bacterial cultures and enzymes that will quickly restore scalp health and get rid of harmful bacteria or fungi causing problems.

Making a yogurt mask is one of the simplest tasks. Here is what I do and how I use the mask. Again, it is just a darned quick and easy fix when you want a hair mask that will be efficient and straightforward.

The Benefits of Yogurt for Hair

Apart from being a wonderful source of proteins and enzymes, yogurt has natural moisturizing properties. It locks moisture inside the hair, helping you overcome dryness and brittleness.

The acidity of the yogurt causes the cuticle of the hair to contract. This is why your locks will look so much shinier after the application of the mask. Besides, you can use yogurt masks or up the intake of plain yogurt to stimulate faster hair growth – giving your hair the building blocks that it needs for growth will certainly help you increase the length of your locks faster.

DIY Yogurt Hair Mask: How To Do:

Note: If you have brown hair, and you would like to highlight the color, you should consider adding some cocoa powder to your yogurt mask. The cocoa will make your color richer and deeper.

① Just mix a cup of plain, full-fat yogurt (Greek yogurt is good), two tablespoons of cocoa powder and two tablespoons of raw honey.

If you have blonde hair, you can replace the cocoa powder with some lemon juice. The juice will make your hair lighter and give it that beautiful beach blond appearance.

② Apply the mask to the entire length of your hair and put particular emphasis on the ends. Scalp application will be needed solely if you suffer from dandruff or another skin condition that is making your scalp itchy or flaky.

③ Leave the mask on for at least 30 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo and after drying and styling; you will notice how much shinier your locks look.

④ There’s definitely no need for conditioner after you’ve used this mask. Your hair will be soft, shiny, and out-of-this-world with deep highlights.

⑤ Go to the ends, if you don’t have much yogurt to spare. Unless you have the aforementioned itchy scalp or dandruff, and you are running low on yogurt (or time), just apply it to the ends before washing your hair. Let it do its job while you do something else and then wash as usual.

⑥ Drip in some lemon juice to bring out the blonde. If you’re more fair-haired, just toss in 2 Tbsp of lemon juice with 1 cup of yogurt, apply to your hair, leave on 30 minutes and then wash as usual. Pure gold.
