What? Potatoes Can Help You Lose Weight?

For so many years, every diet cuts out potatoes but here’s a diet trick that uses potatoes to help you lose weight. It’s not just potatoes, but raw potato juice that does the trick.

Why Potato?

  • The juice of raw potatoes helps the body to return to its optimal pH because of its alkalinity. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory that also stimulates digestion.
  • People use potato juice as a liver cleanser, but it also can help stimulate the bowels to both relieve and prevent constipation.
  • Raw potato juice helps increase friendly bacteria in the colon, as well as speed up digestion. Because of this, it is potentially a benefit for those who are trying to lose weight.
  • By just adding potato juice to a well balanced healthy diet twice a day for a two-week period, you’ll see results.

①
For the best results, you’ll need to choose potatoes that have plenty of eyes that will eventually, if left unused would sprout. Don’t use any with green or black spots.

The green spots contain solanine, a nerve toxin that forms when the potato is exposed to light or temperature extremes.

While you’d have to eat a lot for it to affect you, why take any risk? The black spots are from bruising and have a more bitter taste.

The firmer the better when it comes to the potatoes to use, that’s because they’re fresher and consequently contain more nutrients.

②
When you’re preparing the juice, wash the potato thoroughly and then put the entire potato in the juicer, skin and all. The most nutritious part of the potato is next to the skin.

For Those Who Don’t Have a Juicer:
Simply grate the potato onto cheesecloth and squeeze, the juice will flow out. If you see white residue at the bottom of the glass, it’s a starchy carbohydrate. This has little nutritional value and eventually turns to sugar. Toss it.

③
You’ll need to drink between 100 grams and 150 grams (1/2 cup to ¾ cup) when you awaken each morning.

Make sure it’s at least thirty minutes before you have breakfast. Make the juice right before you drink it so it has maximum nutrients and benefits.

How to Improve the Taste:
Some people simply don’t like the taste of potato juice. Rather than trying to force it down, adding a small amount of honey or raw carrot juice can help, but adding lemon juice for flavor is best.

It doesn’t add additional sugar, and calories, which can slow your effort to lose weight but does add flavor.

What to Do:

The recipe for success calls for drinking the juice twice a day. The second time is thirty minutes before supper.

Use the same method of preparation as you did for breakfast, drinking the potato immediately after juicing.

Follow this regimen each day for two weeks. To continue seeing good results, take a week break from drinking the potato juice and then begin again for two more weeks.

Your choice of food should include more fruits and vegetables than you’d normally eat. Eat other types of food more sparingly during your two-week juice. Avoid refined sugar and processed foods that tend to be higher in sodium content.

Note:

Before you start any diet or weight loss program, consult your health care professional.

Tip:

For the most success, consider using organic red skinned potatoes. The red skinned potatoes have more nutrients and are more healthful. Juicing the potatoes tends to make toxins more concentrated.

Organic farmers use only natural pest control methods, so there’s less potential for pesticides. Even though these are organic, a thorough washing is still important.
