Why are cosmetologists all over the world like extra virgin olive oil so much? What are the benefits of olive oil for face skin? The secrets are simple! This product has many amazing properties. It is used in creams, lotions, masks, scrubs, ointments as an additional ingredient and independently.

Olive oil for skin care

This vitamin E-rich beauty powerhouse can help you look younger, keep your skin feeling supple and even calm irritation. Keep a bottle in your bathroom cabinet to explore the benefits of olive oil in skin care as part of your daily beauty routine.

Using oil to clean your skin – it sounds like an unusual idea! The truth is that oils dissolve sebum (the oily substance your skin produces). This is why the use of olive oil as a facial cleanser makes a lot of sense.

Even if you buy the most expensive olive oil variety, you will still be spending a lot less than the amount you put in commercial skincare. On top of that, olive oil is natural and free from harsh chemicals.

Apart from cleaning the skin, the oil will keep it nourished. The procedure is suitable for all skin types, and there will be no need to use the cream after you are done.

Natural oil not only cleans, disinfects and nourishes the skin.

How to Do It:

① Put about a tablespoon of olive oil in the palm of your hand and let it warm by scrubbing both hands vigorously.

② Gently massage it into your skin. Oil breaks down oil so it’s perfect for removing makeup.

③ After massaging your face for a minute, remove the oil using a warm towel or a paper towel and rinse it off with water.

④ Apply your favorite moisturizer and you’re done.

Extra Tip:

If your skin is a little bit dry and irritated, add a bit of olive oil in your moisturizer of lotion, apply it not just on your face but on your whole body as well.

Olive oil Benefits for Health and Skin

  • Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids which are useful for health:
  • Oleic acid strengthens the walls of blood vessels and helps to avoid the appearance of spider veins on the face skin as we age.
  • Linoleic acid promotes rapid healing of small wounds and rising new skin cells regeneration, prevents the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Extra virgin olive oil contains oleocanthal. It is a natural organic compound which has an anti-inflammatory effect and it is indispensable in the non-stop fight against acne.
  • There is vitamin E in olive oil. It is powerful antioxidant for neutralizing free radicals and deceleration of the aging process.
One more component of olive oil is the plant pigment beta-carotene. It gives a beautiful color to the face skin and it is coming like the precursor of vitamin A (a powerful antioxidant also).
  • Phenols which are present in olive oil help to preserve youthfulness of your skin.

① Get Rid of Dryness
Use olive oil as a gentle moisturizer for dry skin. Olive oil has the same healthy fats as avocado, and plumps and moisturizes the skin with a combination of vitamin E and vitamin A.

How to Do It:
Apply it directly to your skin with a cotton ball or add a few drops to your favorite moisturizer to amp up its effectiveness.

② Remove Mascara
Store-bought makeup removers can be harsh, especially when used around the delicate eye area. A bottle of olive oil, however, is one of the most effective and gentle eye makeup removers possible.

The olive oil dissolves the makeup, even waterproof mascara, so it slides easily off of your eyes without the need for rubbing or scrubbing.

How to Do It:
Apply olive oil to a cotton ball, hold it on the eye area for 30 seconds and slide it downward for a makeup-free face at bedtime.

③ Relieve the Itch
Dry, itchy and inflamed skin is usually the sign of skin irritations, such as eczema and psoriasis. Instead of turning to prescription creams and home remedies, reach for some olive oil to relieve discomfort and irritation.

How to Do It:
Add a quarter cup of olive oil to a warm bath for all-over relief, or apply the oil directly to irritated areas.

④ Fight Aging Effects
Free radicals, sun, and pollution can all take a toll on your skin. A study found that vitamin E was successful in fighting free radicals, photoaging, and damage to maintain younger looking skin.

How to Do It:
Apply olive oil directly to aging and damaged skin to help maintain a youthful appearance and reduce the toll-free radicals takes on your skin.

⑤ Shaving Aid
Shaving, especially with only soap and water, can cause razor rash, bumps, and nicks.

By applying a lubricant, such as moisture-rich olive oil, you can avoid some of the pitfalls of shaving.

How to Do It:
Apply enough olive oil to coat the skin, then draw your razor over the areas doused in olive oil for a smoother, more moisturized shave.
