Have you heard about pearl powder? It’s long been a part of traditional Chinese medicine. Pearl powder has been used for the treatment of a wide range of skin conditions, including acne and eczema.
Pearl powder is also recognized as a natural skin whitener that can be used to get fairer complexion. The skin lightening qualities of pearl powder stem from one of its ingredients.
Why Use Pearl Powder?
Conchiolin is a unique protein that makes pearls shiny and luminous. The amino acids that make conchiolin resemble the composition of collagen, which is essential for skin health and youthfulness.
① This is the main reason why using pearl powder for the creation of face masks is such a great possibility for restoring the youthfulness and radiance of your skin. Also, it will give you a brighter complexion while helping with anti-aging moisturizing.
② Pearl powder can be used to clean the pores from buildup, tighten the skin and get rid of dark spots or circles underneath the eyes.
③ The main reason is that pearl powder slows down the production of melanin. You can use it to deal with age spots, dark spots caused by unprotected exposure to sunlight and freckles.
④ A pearl powder facial mask is ideal for use two to three times per week. The skin whitening results will be noticed relatively soon. Your skin will be fairer, visibly brighter, dewier and naturally glowy with irresistible radiance and youth. Ladies that have sensitive skin should opt for the less frequent use of the mask.
- 1 tsp pearl powder (you can find this at your local Chinese herbs store or you can order it online here)
- 2-3 tbsp rice porridge ( you can use yogurt, or egg white or milk instead)
- 1 tbsp raw honey
① Place 1 teaspoon pearl powder and 1 tablespoon raw honey (to nourish and moisturize aging skin) in a small bowl of rice porridge or yogurt and mix well.
② Gently apply pearl powder facial mask onto clean, dry face, avoiding the delicate eye area.
③ Lie down and relax for 15-20 minutes. It will tingle and feel warm as it removes dead cells. Rinse your face thoroughly with warm water. Lightly pat dry with a soft towel. Apply toner and moisturizer.
Use homemade pearl powder face mask at least 2x or 3x a week, if you want really quick skin whitening results. If you’ve sensitive skin, use it less frequently. Also, do not wear makeup immediately after using a pearl mask.
In place of honey, you can use olive oil or coconut oil (to revitalize dry, dull skin). You can also substitute rice porridge with egg white or milk (to tighten and reduce large pores), almond powder (for extra powerful skin lightening effects), or just plain water (for normal skin).
