There’s nothing like a cold treat, especially during the summer months. If you’re like me, you probably love ice cream. Chocolate ice cream is one of my favorites, but recently, I’ve added frozen pineapple treats to the top of my list too. Have you ever had DisneyLand’s Dole Pineapple Whip? If so, you’ll never forget it. Well, I came up with a delicious frozen treat that tastes almost like that amazing treat. The best part – it’s actually a low-calorie pineapple smoothie that you can enjoy without any guilt.

You’ll enjoy all the amazing flavor of a pineapple treat, but you don’t have to worry about it being high in sugar, fat, and calories. This is wonderful since you can enjoy this treat at any time of day without it sabotaging your diet. In fact, the ingredients used in this delicious smoothie are actually good for you.

If you want to improve your health or lose weight, as a starting point, just try adding one green smoothie to your diet for breakfast and see how much better you feel. Once you start noticing improvements to the way you feel, you will be motivated to start taking it one step further.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • ½ medium banana
  • ½ cup crushed ice
  • ½ cup vanilla yogurt (or greek vanilla yogurt)
  • 1 or 1½ cups fat free milk OR coconut milk

Add pineapple, banana, yogurt and ice to a blender. Add 1 cup of the milk. Pulse until mixture is smooth. Add more milk about ¼ cup at a time until desired consistency is reached. Pour into a glass and drink up!

*Dairy-free option: use coconut milk and leave out the yogurt.

Benefits of the Ingredients

All of the ingredients have some great benefits. For examples, bananas offer some excellent health benefits. Bananas are high in potassium, which is essential for muscle and nerve function. Bananas also include vitamin C, which gives your immune system a boost. You’ll also find that bananas are high in fiber, which keeps you full, and they include other nutrients, such as manganese, vitamin B-6, iron, phosphorus, calcium, vitamin E and vitamin A.

Pineapple is known for its many health benefits as well. This fruit is packed with minerals and vitamins, such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C and vitamin A. The high amount of vitamin C will help fight off sickness. The manganese and calcium found in pineapple will help you build strong, healthy bones as well. The bromelain in pineapple also helps aid in digestion.

Even the Greek yogurt offers some benefits. It is high in protein, offering far more protein than regular yogurt. The Greek yogurt also includes important probiotics, which help to improve your immune system and your digestive function. Then, the milk added to the smoothie contains calcium, protein and other important nutrients your body needs.

As you can see, not only does this low-cal, diet friendly smoothie taste amazing, but it’s extremely good for you too. Go ahead and enjoy one – you’ll love this cold, refreshing, healthy treat.
