If you love the idea of a detox bath soak, but you have a tough time finding time for a long soak, you may can to consider trying a detoxifying foot soak. The mini foot soak is easy to fit into your busy day, it feels amazing, and it comes with a variety of health benefits as well.

Why Your Feet?
You may be wondering how soaking your feet can benefit the best of your body. Well, the feet have the larger pores than any other place on the body, and the feet have more pores than any other area of the body as well.

This means that using a detoxifying foot soak can effectively help you soak away toxins.

Benefits of a Detox Foot Soak
Since the main ingredient in your detox foot soak is Epsom salts, you’ll find that the soak offers some excellent benefits. The sulfur and magnesium in the Epsom salts, along with the soothing hot water, can reduce inflammation, draw those toxins out and increase magnesium intake of which most of us are deficient, reduce stress and flush away toxins from the body.

Since our feet have the most and largest pores of the body, a detoxing foot soak can be very efficient in a short amount of time. It’s an excellent place to absorb the magnesium in Epsom salts.

  • Reduces Inflammation
    The detox foot soak offers the benefit of reducing inflammation due to the magnesium sulfates included in Epsom salts. Reducing inflammation helps to sooth aching, sore feet.

    Inflammation often occurs in the connective tissues in the sole, due to prolonged standing, walking and running. Soaking your feet in a detoxifying soak helps to reduce this inflammation and make feet feel better.

  • Magnesium
    Magnesium is an important mineral for the body, helping to regulate the balance of electrolytes within the body. It also is essential for nerve conduction and cardiac activity.

    By soaking your feet in a foot soak that includes Epsom salts, your feet may absorb some of the magnesium.

  • Reduces Stress
    The warm water helps sooth away stress, but the magnesium from the Epsom salts may also help relieve stress, since magnesium helps to promote nerve function and blood pressure regulation.

    Adding essential oils, such as lavender, can increase the stress relieving effects of your foot soak.

  • Flush Away Toxins
    As the pores of feet open up, the detoxifying foot soak helps flush away toxins from the feet, which is another big benefit of this soak.

Of course, these are only a few of the benefits you can enjoy when using this foot soak. Other benefits include exfoliating skin, reducing itching and relieving foot pain due to injuries, diabetes or arthritis.

Of course, while using this soak offers many benefits, never use the soak more than 2-3 times each week, or the salts may dry out skin.

Detox Bath:When we take a detox foot soak or bath, we not only boost our health and well-being, but also strengthen our immune system and prevent disease.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 Cup Sea Salt
  • 1 Cup Epsom Salt
  • 2 Cups Baking Soda
  • 10 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil (this is optional)

  • You mix all the dry ingredients together and store in an airtight container. When you are ready to use, measure out 1/4 cup of mixture and add to hot water.

    The water should be as hot as you can comfortably stand. Leave your feet soaking for 30 minutes. Periodically keep adding hot water to the bath.

  • After the thirty minutes are up, dry feet then wash with warm soapy water, dry again then brush the bottoms of feet with a natural fiber foot brush. Only use 100% aloe vera after you are finished.
  • Lotions with additives will leech impurities back into your system after a foot detox.
  • This detox should be done daily for one week. Then twice a week for 30 days. Then once a week for regular maintenance.

Quick Tip:By adding a tablespoon of bentonite clay to your Detoxing Foot Soak, you can eliminate chlorine in the water.

      @Joy,
      Epsom salts are commonly used for this purpose to help draw out impurities through their skin’s pores and to relieve skin problems, muscle soreness and injury. If possible, use Epsom salt or follow the ingredients to get the benefits of this foot soak.

      @Noor,
      If you are in US, you can buy Epson salt in groceries and health stores. But if you are in Asia especially in India (I presumed), go to minyari and ask them for samundari namak, epsom salt is a seldom used word…
