When it comes to weight loss, you can discover a lot of information about the benefits of green tea. Do you, however, know how to use this delicious drink in the best possible way?

Green tea has the power to speed up your metabolism and here is how to buy it and how to drink it, to reap maximum benefit.

That got me thinking: To corral the fat-fighting power of this superfood, what kinds of green tea should I be drinking? Is green tea extract effective? Does the temperature affect its potency? Oh, so many questions.

Your Green Tea Questions, Answered

Do you get the same green tea benefits with flavored green teas?
If you are buying green tea-flavored drinks and foods, you are certainly not getting the weight loss benefits. The actual substances found in authentic green tea are the ones that speed up the metabolism.

If you are simply relying on flavored drinks, you lack the antioxidants and the other nutrients responsible for the weight loss benefits.

The recommendation: Avoid flavored green tea varieties. Many of these contain added sugar, which increases the nutritional value and the calorie count of the drink. If you are interested in natural weight loss, you need to stay away from the sugar.

Does the brand of green tea matter?
Yes. The quality of green tea leaves used in each variety on the market is different. Some brands may also have artificial or harmful additives in their green tea varieties.

Quality matters, so you need to spend a little bit of time on research. The actual substances found in authentic green tea are the ones that speed up the metabolism.

If you are simply relying on flavored drinks, you lack the antioxidants and the other nutrients responsible for the weight loss benefits.

The recommendation: All of the ingredients in the green tea variety you choose should be natural. The product has to be preservative-free, as well.

Avoid flavored green tea varieties.
Many of these contain added sugar, which decreases the nutritional value and increases the calorie count of the drink. If you are interested in natural weight loss, you need to stay away from the sugar.

To reap the maximum benefits, look for brands that use all natural ingredients and have no artificial preservatives, such as Traditional, Medicinals or Yogi.

What if the green tea is iced?
Some people like their tea iced and I do enjoy an occasional refreshing cup during the summer. Keep in mind that the addition of ice to your green tea drink is going to dilute it.

If you want to get the maximum concentration and you are eager to make full use of it, drink your green tea hot.

Brew a better cup using this tip from the pros:
To make the most beneficial cup of green tea, don’t let the water come to a full boil instead. Pour the water over the tea leaves or the tea bag right before it boils (the point where tiny bubbles begin to form). And then allow the tea to steep for a couple of minutes (around 2-4 minutes) and enjoy!

Can green tea go bad?
Green tea can remain in good condition for a long period of time, especially if you store it properly. Still, drinking fresh green tea is the best option for weight loss.

Try to consume the quantity you purchased within six months. Keeping the tea for a longer period will deprive you of the opportunity to enjoy all of its antioxidant powers.

If I’m not in a “tea mood,” will a green tea extract do the trick?
There is one final question that needs to be answered, and it involves people who are not tea lovers.

Are you one of these individuals? You can go for green tea extract because it will deliver the same weight loss benefits. Take a good look at the formula.

The average 1 ml of green tea extract corresponds to anywhere between eight to 10 cups of the drink when it comes to the power of the antioxidants.
