Shampoo + Conditioner in One – Coconut Delight

What do you do when you’re running out of conditioner and don’t have time to run out to the store? You make something with what you have on hand, of course!

This is an easy way to get shampoo and conditioner in one. You can simply add the ingredients to your favorite shampoo and voila, you already have your hair conditioner that will make your hair soft and manageable.

shampoo-and-conditioner-in-one

I like to use almond oil, this is my favorite carrier oil. I use this on my hands and legs after taking a shower. However, if you have avocado oil available, you can use it.

The best part of this recipe? You only have to add 2 ingredients, and more likely, you already have them available.

You’ll Need:

  • Regular shampoo
  • Coconut milk
  • Almond oil (you can substitute this with avocado, coconut or olive oil)

shampoo-and-conditioner-in-one

Directions:

  • Grab 1/4 cup of your favorite shampoo and mix 2 teaspoon almond oil as well as 1 1/2 tbsp coconut milk.
  • Combine the ingredients in a container and whisk for 2 minutes. Shake well before each use.
  • This mixture should be enough for one or three shampoos (depends on how thick or long your hair are).
  • You can store this mixture in the bathroom for future use.

Quick Alternatives to Conditioner When You Don’t Have Any to Get you By.

① First, if you have any empty hair conditioner bottles nearby, add a quick shot of water and shake up the contents. This should give you just enough conditioner to get by at least, even if it’s foamy and watered down. It’s better than using nothing at all.

② In a situation where you have not even an empty bottle of hair conditioner available, turn to your basic body lotion to help you out. Rub a small dollop into your hands, rub it into your hair, and rinse.

③ If you are already out of the shower, place lotion in your wet hands to water down lotion a bit, and rub it into the ends of your hair only to prevent weighing down your roots and making them look greasy. A dime-sized amount of lotion should work to rub into hair in a pinch to replace hair conditioner.

④ Sunscreen is a wonderful alternative as well, as it not only gets needed protection into your scalp but protects your hair from the sun as well.

⑤ A dime-sized amount of sunscreen rubbed into your palms and into your hair and scalp can not only keep your hair well moisturized but protect you from the sun. A great way to take care of your hair when you have no conditioner and keeps you healthy!
