Want to speed up hair growth and make your locks stronger? You don’t need to go to the drugstore and buy a lotion or a conditioner. Everything that you need to improve hair health is found in your kitchen.

A couple of natural products can deliver excellent results, speed up hair growth and decrease the loss of hair significantly.

① Onion and Garlic

The sulfur found in garlic and onions increases collagen production, making your hair stronger and capable of growing faster.

Both garlic and onions are wonderful sources of sulfur compounds, and this is why they have been used for decades as traditional hair conditioners.

How to Do:
Get some cloves of garlic, chop them finely and mix with coconut oil.

Heat the mixture over a very low fire and simmer for a couple of minutes. Let it cool down before applying to the scalp. The treatment will deliver best results when used two times per week.

And for onion option: Just chop one onion finely, squeeze the juice and apply it to the scalp. Leave for 15 minutes then rinse with mild shampoo and conditioner.

② Coconut Oil or Coconut Milk Conditioner
Coconut is one of the most beneficial skin and hair care products. You can use the milk juice of coconut and the oil to make your hair stronger and healthier.

The proteins and the healthy fatty acids will reduce the risk of breakage and give your locks a bit of extra shine. Regular use of this treatment will strengthen your hair and reduce hair loss.

How to Do:
Just cut open a coconut, squeeze the milk and mix with a little water before gently applying to areas where you notice thinning and balding.

Let it sit for a couple of hours, or you can leave it overnight. Rinse off with your regular shampoo the next morning.

Same goes with the coconut oil, just massage the oil into your scalp and let it sit for a few hours or overnight and wash/rinse it off with shampoo.

③ Henna and Mustard Oil
Henna is widely used in Asian countries for its hair care benefits. It can reinforce the color and make locks healthier at the same time. Henna forms a thin, protective layer over each individual hair.

Also, using henna for coloring purposes will protect your locks against the chemicals found in the commercial hair dyes. I am referring here to pure henna, many products that are labeled “henna hair color” are actually full of chemicals that can damage the hair.

Stick with a trusted brand or buy it from a trusted natural herb supplier.

How to Do:
To make this conditioner, you will need a handful of henna leaves and 250 grams (8.8 ounces) of mustard oil.

Put the mustard oil in a pan and heat it in a very low fire. Add the henna leaves and simmer until the leaves reach reddish brown color.

Turn the heat off and allow the mixture to cool down before using it.

Apply a thick layer of the infused oil to your scalp and let it act for up to four hours or better leave it overnight. Wash your hair with the shampoo you use regularly. Use this conditioner once or twice per week for best results.

④ Hibiscus
hisbiscus hair mask
Hibiscus is well-known for its hair strengthening properties, it helps prevent dandruff as well as the formation of premature grey hair. It nourishes the locks, increases their strength and improves scalp health.

How to Do:
You’ll need a couple of hibiscus flowers. Crush them and mix with coconut oil to form a paste.

Apply this mixture to your scalp and let it act for a couple of hours. Then rinse off with a mild shampoo.

⑤ Amla
Rich in antioxidants, the amla fruit is an excellent option for decreasing hair loss. Apart from using it to make a conditioner, you should consume the fruit to get maximum benefits.

You’ll need one amla fruit and one lime. Crush the fruit and add the lime juice to it. Apply the mixture to your scalp and let it dry. Wash your hair, and you’re done!

How to Do:
Crush the 1 or 2 Amla fruit and add some lime juice to it to make a paste. Apply on your scalp and gently massage the mixture.

Let it sit for 30 minutes or let it dry and wash your hair with shampoo, and you’re done!

⑥ Egg + Olive Oil
olive-oil-and-egg
The eggs are an excellent source of sulphur and contain many minerals and nutrients that can strengthen the hair and promote hair growth.

Olive oil has long been used in the Mediterranean region for the creation of masks and nourishing treatments against hair loss.

Using these two ingredients alongside each other will guarantee the best results in terms of strengthening your locks.

How to Do:
Mix the egg with extra virgin olive oil and gently massage / apply to the scalp (just adjust how much olive oil you want).

Leave for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water and shampoo as usual. The two ingredients will strengthen your hair, protect it against split ends and breakage.

Apart from creating and using a natural conditioner, you may consider changing your diet to boost the strength of your hair.

Vitamins, proteins, and microelements will all be needed to overcome serious hair loss. Avoid shampoos and styling products that contain irritating chemicals.

Finally, find a good way to combat stress, if you want to enjoy strong and luscious hair.

      Hi Kanika,
Try doing the 5-minutes scalp massage every week or even twice a week using coconut oil. I did this routine for a month and my dry scalp was totally healed.

          hi Kanika,
Yes, you can do the oil hair massage after 5 days of your hair rebonding, since it takes about 3 to 4 days for the newly rebonded hair to settle into its new structure.
This routine help nurse your hair back to health. You can use oils such as coconut or olive oil, doing this Oiling routine helps moisturize and nourish your hair while also boosting scalp health.

      @Tanzil Akhtar,
If you will use the henna leaves as per instructions, you can use it within a week or two (but discard if the mixture smells rancid). My advise is that, always create in small batch as fresh works the best.

      @Sabby,
You can crush the amla by putting them in a blender or you can use a pestle and mortar and crush them (you can cut them first for easy use).
Just add few drops of lemons on a crush amla and mix them well.
