Master Cleanse or Lemonade Diet – How to Lose Extra Pounds Quick

Many celebrities regularly use the Master Cleanse diet to help them lose weight fast. Other individuals use the diet from time to time to eliminate cravings for unhealthy food. Spiritual people often use this cleanse as a part of their fasting, which they use to improve mental and spiritual clarity.

Obviously, this cleanse is an excellent choice for celebrities, health-conscious individuals, and religious people. However, even if you don’t fit into these categories, the master cleanse still may prove helpful to you.

Why Choose the Master Cleanse?:
So, why should you consider trying the Master Cleanse? Here are a few reasons to try it:

  • To lose weight quickly
  • You’re dealing with fatigue and bloating and you want to feel energetic again
  • You know toxins are building up in your body and you want to eliminate those toxins

Enjoy Fast Weight Loss
Many people go on the Master Cleanse, often referred to as the lemonade diet, to lose weight. The great part about the cleanse is that it allows you to lose about one pound each day. The Master Cleanse follows a 10-day plan, and on average, people lose a minimum of 10 pounds. In some cases, people lose even more weight, especially if they avoid cheating and follow all the guidelines.

Stanley Burroughs is the man who came up with the Master Cleanse. According to him, you can use the cleanse for at least 40 days. This means that you could lose 40 pounds if you go on the cleanse for 40 days.

While that sounds like a lot of weight, if you have a lot of weight to lose, then the cleanse may be able to help you take off those pounds.

Master Cleanse for Detox

Toxins are all around us today. There’s carbon monoxide in the air that we breathe, chemicals in our clothes detergents and softeners, fluoride in tap water and preservatives in the foods that we eat.

You can’t help it – you’re exposed to toxins daily. Cleaning out the body and removing those toxins is important. Otherwise, the toxic load on the body can cause sickness.

The Master Cleanse in Details

Even though people lose weight on the Master Cleanse, it’s not crash or fad diet. It’s a diet or a cleanse that allows you to clean out the toxins and waste in the body. Since your body takes in toxins daily, the liver has to eliminate those toxins.

When the liver can’t handle all the toxins, those toxins are stored in fat cells within the liver. If there’s no more room, then the toxins are released into your body, and fat cells are created to store the toxins.

Toxins Accumulate Within the Colon:
Toxins also accumulate within the colon, which is where the blood is filtered to take toxins to your liver. If this occurs, dirty blood is being fed back to the body. This can cause some health issues. Common symptoms of excess toxins in the body include fatigue, mental fog, depression, nausea, headaches, tension, stress, insomnia, and irritability.

It’s not enough to treat the symptoms. You have to get to the root of the problem, which is the toxins accumulating in the body. These toxins must be eliminated so the body can function normally.

Why These Ingredients?
When you go on the Master Cleanse, you won’t eat solid food for the whole 10 days. This allows the body to eliminate toxins. Since the enzymes in the body don’t need to digest your food, they are able to work on cleaning the body.

  1. The lemons and cayenne pepper loosen the toxic deposits, and maple syrup provides us with energy.
  2. Meanwhile, the salt water flush removes the toxins that have been released into the colon. This is a system that cleanses that colon, the liver, kidneys, and other organs, and that is why it’s called the Master Cleanse.

There are 3 things to remember:

At night:

Beginning the night before you do the Master Cleanse, and every night after that for 10 days, take a laxative tea. The best tea to take is the Smooth Move (which is available through Healthy Options, I purchased mine from or any diet tea drinks available.

In the morning:

Immediately upon waking up, drink a quart (0.9 liters) of water with 2 teaspoons (use a teaspoon used for measuring ingredients, not an ordinary teaspoon) of non-iodized sea salt (rock salt will do).

Drink it all at once, or at least within 5 minutes. Don’t wait longer than that to finish the whole amount. After usually about 30 minutes, you will need to go to the toilet as the water will be flushed out of the system.

If you require going to the bathroom even before you take the salt water as a result of drinking laxative tea the night before, don’t worry. Just drink the salt water after you’re done going to the toilet.

It might take about another 30 minutes for your body to flush the water. Once the water has been flushed out completely, you typically won’t need to go to the toilet again. This will not give you LBM.

The combination of the laxative tea and the salt water flush may be compared to the agitation and rinse cycles of a washing machine. The laxative tea agitates the toxins that line your colon, and the salt water rinses them out.

It is essential for you to do these steps during the 10-day master cleanse as not doing them will mean that the toxins that are being released from your fat cells are not leaving your body and could, therefore, re-toxify you.

All throughout the day:
Every time you get hungry, make some lemonade. Here is the recipe:

  • 8 ounces of purified water hot or cold (about 250 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup (only Grade B and not maple flavored sugar syrup, available from Healthy Options)
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice or lime juice (usually the juice from half a lemon)
  • a dash of cayenne pepper

There is no need to be scrupulous about the measurements as that would complicate things.

To simplify this, you could even make batches of 500 ml or 1 liter at a time. When making 500 ml, just use up a whole lemon and add 4 tbsp of maple syrup. When making 1 liter, use 2 lemons and 8 tbsp of maple syrup.

Most people find that they need to drink anywhere from 6 to 12 glasses of lemonade a day. If you need more than that, go ahead. There is absolutely no reason to starve yourself as feeling starved is one sure way to discourage you from continuing the cleanse.

If you can tolerate cayenne pepper well, you can use more than what the recipe calls for. The cayenne pepper breaks up the mucoid plaque and dilates the blood vessels, thus speeding up the detox process.

During the 10-day process, you may also drink water and some caffeine-free tea. Do not take anything else – no coffee, no soda, no crackers, no vegetable soup. Your body must be completely devoted to cleaning out the toxins, and it can’t do that if your enzymes are being used to digest food.

Breaking the 10-day fast:

After 10 days, it’s important that you take nothing but freshly squeezed oranges or grapefruit for the 11th day and 12th day. Eating something solid immediately will shock the body as your digestive system needs to be eased back into eating solid food.

On the 13th day, have orange juice again for breakfast, but by lunch time, you can start eating fruits and raw salads.
