Tomato Juice Benefits for Skin

Tomato juice is delicious and refreshing but did you know that it could also have an incredibly positive impact on your skin? It’s a wonderful source of many nutrients and vitamins that your skin requires to be healthy.

The juice is also rich in lycopene – a powerful antioxidant that protects cells against free radical damage and premature aging.

The best aspect of it is that tomato juice can be used for the preparation of dozens DIY skincare treatments. I’ve come up with a list of the most beneficial ones.
tomato juice benefits for skin

① Lightens Skin Tone
You’ll find dozens of skin whitening creams in the local drugstore. Many of these, however, contain harsh chemicals that could cause irritation and other skin problems. So, if you want to make your face glow and blemish free, use fresh tomato juice liberally on a regular basis.

What to Do:
The vitamin C found in tomato juice is an excellent possibility for lightening your skin in a natural way. All that you have to do is rub a bit of fresh tomato juice in your skin on a daily basis. Let the juice sit for about 15-20 minutes and rinse it with tepid water and apply moisturizer as usual.

② Reduces Skin Oiliness
The tomato pulp & juice can regulate the activity of the sebaceous glands, thus decreasing excessive oiliness.

What to Do:
Making this treatment is really simple. Cut a tomato in half and just rub the pulpy side over your face, especially the t-zone. Let the juice act for 15 minutes and rinse your face with lukewarm water. You’ll get the best results by doing the treatment two times per day.

③ Cleanses Skin
Fresh tomato juice is an excellent option for in-depth pore cleansing. Alternatively, cut a tomato in half and dip it in some sugar. Use the tomato to gently massage and exfoliate your face. The sugar crystals will remove dead skin cells, leaving your face glowing and imperfection-free.

What to Do:
Alternatively, cut a tomato in half and dip it in some raw sugar. Use the tomato to gently massage and exfoliate your face. The sugar crystals will remove dead skin cells, leaving your face glowing and imperfection-free. Keep it like that for some time and rinse off with cold water.

④ Soothe Irritated Skin
Tomato juice can reduce itchiness, redness, flakiness and swelling caused by excessive skin irritation. The juice is mildly acidic, which is essential for restoring the skin’s natural pH after the use of cosmetics. A mask consisting of yogurt and tomato juice is a very powerful soothing possibility.

What to Do:
Consider creating a mask by mixing 2 tbsp plain yogurt (Greek yogurt is good) and add some tomato juice into it. Apply it on the face and rinse after 15-20 minutes.

⑤ Tightens Skin Pores
Apart from being a great skin cleansing possibility, tomato juice can also be used to reduce the prominence of pores. Tomato juice is a natural astringent. It will immediately shrink the size of the pores and make them less visible.

What to Do:
You’ll get best results by applying tomato juice to your face (instead of using astringent) before going to bed and washing it off the next morning.

⑥ Reduces Acne Outbreak
A natural acne cure is one of the best and most long-lived solutions for acne. Tomato juice can deliver excellent results, if you’re patient enough and committed to using it on a daily basis.

What to Do:
Just gently rub tomato juice in the affected area, keep it on for an hour and rinse your skin. Repeat until the pimples and the redness disappear.

⑦ Removes Blackheads
Acne and blackheads go hand in hand and tomato juice can be used to get rid of both. The pore cleansing qualities of tomato juice turn it in a wonderful possibility to fight blackheads (comedones).

What to Do:
You can use tomato juice alone for massaging over the areas having blackheads. Or you can create a facial mask to remove blackheads, reduce oiliness, tighten pores and moisturize the skin. Mix some tomato juice in 2 tbsp avocado, mashed it together to create a paste. Apply the mixture on your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off with tepid water and followed with your favorite moisturizer.

⑧ Treats Sunburn
The antioxidants found in tomato juice deliver excellent results for diminishing the pain and irritation associated to sunburns.

What to Do:
Mix tomato juice and buttermilk powder to create a paste-like consistency and apply to the affected areas. Let the mask act for an hour before rinsing with tepid water.

⑨ Makes Skin Supple
Research suggests that tomato juice stimulates collagen production. A tomato juice mask is an excellent possibility for increasing skin elasticity and preventing the appearance of the first wrinkles. Increasing your tomato consumption will also be beneficial. Now head to the kitchen and make yourself a nice tomato salad!

These are just some of the amazing benefits of tomato juice treatments, not to mention the fact that they are inexpensive and 100 percent natural. You can use tomato juice to handle a vast array of skincare problems, regardless of your skin type. There will be no adverse side effects so before heading to the drugstore to buy a jar of face cream, you may want to try the simple and powerful benefits of tomato juice.

      hi Richa Jain,
Don’t use tomato on daily basis. Just use it every other day for best result.

      @Poonan Basnet,
Tomato is highly acidic that may cause some irritations particularly if you have sensitive skin. If you are in the oily side like me, you can apply tomato daily but try to alternate this tomato trick by adding some honey or some yogurt or curd to tomato juice and apply it as a mask.
