Ginger is more than just a delectable spice that adds flavor to your dishes. It is a natural herb with properties that help in the treatment of different medical problems right from nausea and indigestion to respiratory issues and heart problems.

Besides, the strong and stimulating property of ginger also makes it an excellent remedy for hair growth. Using ginger as a hair treatment is a centuries-old practice that comes from

Ayurvedic medicine. Ayurveda, a traditional healing system developed in India, relies on herbs for preventing illness and for the healing of the whole person. A typical Ayurvedic use for ginger is dandruff control.

Ginger Benefits for Hair

① Ginger is an excellent remedy for hair growth. It contains few circulatory agents that stimulate blood flow to the scalp. This increased blood circulation, triggers the hair follicles and encourages new growth.

② Ginger is an excellent source of essential fatty acids that prevent thinning of your hair and eventually stops hair loss. Besides it also has good anti-inflammatory properties.

③ Dandruff is a very common scalp problem that leads to hair loss. This can be effectively cured using ginger. It has a natural antiseptic property that helps in preventing and curing dandruff and other hair related problems.

Treatment for Hair Growth:
Ginger works to increase scalp circulation. When blood flows to the scalp, it stimulates the hair follicles and encourages growth. The fatty acids in the root are great for thin hair.

① Grate about 1 tbsp of ginger root into a small bowl. Add 1 tbsp of jojoba oil (or olive oil) and mix well.
② Rub this mixture into your scalp with massaging, circular motions. Leave on your hair for 30 minutes or longer. You should feel a warming effect on your scalp. Shampoo or rinse well.

** OR **

① Peel about 6 ounces of fresh ginger and place it in a blender with ¼ cup of water.

② Blend until the ginger root becomes a fine pulp. Line a small bowl with two or three layers of cheesecloth and pour the pureed mixture into the cheesecloth.

③ Gather the edges of the cheesecloth edges together, twist and hold them as you squeeze as much juice a possible from the cheesecloth into the bowl.

④ Apply the juice directly to your scalp, leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes and shampoo as usual.

WARNING:

If you have an allergic reaction or develop skin irritation, discontinue using this mixture.
