Unfortunately, cellulite is a problem that crops up from time to time, particularly on your thighs. Since summer is here and you want to look your best in your swimsuit this summer, finding a way to eliminate those patches of cellulite is important.
The good news is that you probably have the perfect cellulite-fighting ingredients right in the kitchen.
Like most women, I struggle with little bouts of cellulite. And sometimes it doesn’t matter how hard you try to prevent it, it will inevitably appear just before bikini season.
This is what I use from my kitchen to get ready for summer. With a few kitchen ingredients, you can whip up an easy DIY coffee scrub that you can use to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
You’ll Need:
- 1/2 Cup Brewed Coffee Grounds
- 1/4 Cup Sea Salt or Brown sugar
- Enough Olive Oil to make a dry paste
- Stir together the Coffee Grounds and Sea Salt (or brown sugar) until they are well mixed
- Add the olive oil and stir into a dry paste
- Best stored in a dark container
How to Use:
- Your skin should be moist before applying the scrub
- Rub in circular motions on problem areas (you should give more time for this) and let it sit on the skin couple of minutes with water off.
- After 10 minutes rinse well with warm water
- Pat dry & apply your moisturizer
- Continue couple of times a week
Recommended for any skin type but if you do have sensitive skin it is always good idea to do a patch test before making the scrub. Personally, I love this scrub and use it on weekly basis and I’ve noticed tighter and toned skin overall.
Plus I’m addicted to coffee aroma and trust me you will feel energized & more refreshed after the scrub.
Tip: Mix together all the ingredients in this DIY coffee scrub and use it in the shower after cleansing. Simply use the scrub on areas where you have cellulite, rubbing into skin for 2-3 minutes before allowing it to sit on skin for about 10 minutes. Then, rinse the scrub away, dry skin and moisturize. Use the scrub a couple times weekly for the best results. You can store the scrub for a couple weeks, but it is best to keep it in a dark container.
Why it Works
Benefits of Coffee Grounds for Cellulite
How can coffee grounds help reduce the appearance of cellulite? The caffeine in the coffee grounds works on cellulite by reducing the size of the cellulite fat cells significantly. Caffeine will stimulate a surface blood flow to the affected area, this will enable the fatty deposits to circulate and over time diminish.
The coffee acts as a mild diuretic when we drink it, the caffeine-rich grounds will draw water out of your fat cells, shrinking them so they’re less noticeable. Caffeine also helps to reduce inflammation and redness. The coffee grounds also help to exfoliate dead skin cells away. As an added bonus, the caffeine also helps to constrict your blood vessels, so this scrub may help to reduce the appearance of varicose veins too.
Benefits of Sea Salt for Cellulite
The sea salt used in this DIY coffee scrub also provides some excellent benefits. First, it helps to promote the elimination of excess waste, toxins, and water, which aids in the reduction of cellulite. All the important minerals found in sea salt, including iron, calcium, iodine, and magnesium are important to the skin as well. It acts as an exfoliator and aids in the blood flow stimulation during the scrub.
Benefits of Olive Oil for Cellulite
Even the olive oil used in the scrub helps to fight cellulite. Olive oil helps with the detoxification process. Since cellulite occurs due to toxins and water buildup in fat cells, detoxifying those cells can provide great results. Using olive oil on the skin can help to detoxify skin and over time can successfully reduce the appearance of cellulite.
It also hydrates skin and revitalizes it with healthy fats and important antioxidants. Olive Oil is the binding agent for these two dry ingredients and will naturally hydrate the skin.
Tip: The coffee grounds should be brewed. During the brewing process as the coffee grounds are being mixed with water, it begins to activate the enzymes in the grounds, as well as change the consistency which will better create the paste texture that is best for the scrub.
