How to Make a Grapefruit Skin Brightening Face Mask

Grapefruit is not only great for shedding holiday pounds but also perfect for skin care, thanks to its high Vitamin C content. This skin-regenerating antioxidant plays a vital role in the production of collagen, a fibrous protein that keeps skin nicely firm and taut.

We lose collagen and elastin as we age, which explains why wrinkles mysteriously creep up on our face and skin starts to sag once we reach 30.

Facing some skin pigmentation problems lately? Here comes the good news in a bad skin situation – the Vitamin C in grapefruit has the ability to naturally lighten discolored skin (freckles and dark spots) over time and brighten up dull-looking complexion in minutes.

What’s also attractive about using grapefruit in skin care is, it makes a good skin-soothing antiseptic that can help stave off acne problems while normalizing oil production. So if your skin gets oily really quickly, say 4 to 5 hours after washing and super prone to acne breakouts, or if you are struggling with large pores and blackheads, then this grapefruit facial mask is an absolute godsend.

Benefits of the Ingredients
Cornmeal
The cornmeal absorbs oil that’s in excess on the surface of the skin. That’s why this is great for oily skin, but also for normal skin types that just want to clean their pores out. I would leave this on the surface of the skin for 20 minutes, and then I would rinse it off with tepid water which means not too hot, not too cold.

Grapefruit
We’re combining the vitamin C of the grapefruit which is fantastic as a foundation for good skincare. Also, the acidity of the grapefruit is magnificent for clarifying the pores in the skin.

Yogurt
The cornmeal, like I said, it feels like a scrub on the surface of the skin, but it also absorbs excess oil, and the yogurt is excellent for calming the skin, calming inflammation.

So it’s what really gets rid of breakouts on the surface of the skin when we use this. And that’s the most important part of all is that it’ll really clarify the skin, make it more even, flatten out any inflammation that you have, and it’ll really get you feel like you have clean, clear, glowing skin at the end.

The other benefit is, this exceedingly simple face mask makes a great firming and rejuvenating pick-me-up for tired skin, no matter what skin type you have.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 tbsp cornmeal (or you can use egg white)
  • ¼ small grapefruit
  • 1-2 tbsp yogurt or sour cream

Use this homemade grapefruit face pack 1-2 times a week for best results. You can store any unused portions in an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to 2 days.

Directions:
① Place yogurt (or sour cream) in a small bowl.

2-1
② Add the cornmeal to the mixing bowl (if you are using egg white, beat the egg white with an egg beater or fork until it is light and fluffy).

3-1
③ Squeeze the grapefruit juice into a small bowl. You need 2 or 3 tbsp. Mix thoroughly all the ingredients.
4-1

④ Apply the face mask on your clean face and neck. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry.
