Still have a headache from your teenage kicks of the past? I’m talking about zits here… I got the impression that zits are synonymous to adolescent and once we hit our 20’s, they will magically pass into oblivion, that’s what I thought when I was hitting puberty but not in my case.. maybe. I’m way more than my post-adolescent years but still, I struggle with hormonal breakouts and therefore post-acne marks or dark spots are salient reminder of my adult acne and they look awful. I admit am a squeezer, a picker and a chronic face-toucher hence blemishes/marks marred my skin particularly in my chin area.

Evidently, my vain attempt using chemical peels and professional facials fell flat although these kicks have somehow alleviate my skin condition yet, they drained my wallet. But as I mature and learn more about holistic care, I find myself being drawn to natural cures or DO-IT yourself remedies particularly on skincare. So I trolled the internet and found this DIY remedy that healed my acne scars or post-acne red marks. If you can relate to this predicament and suffer from scarring or dark spots from zits or clogged pores, this homemade facial mask will probably work best for your skin as well.

Obviously, patience and persistence are the requisites to see final results when using natural and organic remedies at home but the fact that they are very wholesome and beneficial to your skin, every little effort is worth a shot not to mention they are more affordable. Be aware that post-acne red marks or dark spots won’t wither right away but with consistent and extended use, you should see results in around 1-2 months.

You’ll Need:
4 tsp lemon juice
3 tsp plain yogurt
4 tbsp honey
1 egg white

Simply whip the egg whites until become a little fluffy and mix the above ingredients in a bowl. With a clean face, apply the mixture and let it sit for 15 – 20 minutes until it hardens, expect your skin to feel tight and dry. After that, rinse with warm water and splash with cold water to close the pores. Pat dry and moisturize as usual. Any left-over mixture can be stored in the fridge and could be used until 3 weeks.

Why These Ingredients:

Egg Whites – Tighten and lighten the skin. They are rich in amino acids and proteins which can tighten the pores – keeping them closed to prevent new acne while lightening scarred skin.

Lemon – Works great as an exfoliator to remove dull skin and the best natural whitening. Lemon fruit acids are ideal for gentle exfoliation.

Yogurt – Contains lactic acid, which is a component in some in-office chemical peels. It gently exfoliates the top layers of the epidermis, which can clear up blemishes and discolorations, and may even reduce fine wrinkles.

Honey – Has antibacterial properties, which helps in fighting acne and pimples. Honey reduces infection and is very effective home remedy to treat acne.

I normally do this beauty routine during night time in order my skin would completely assimilate all the products devoid of sun and makeup intrusion. However, if you need a real quick fix to conceal any dark spots, applying good ol’ concealer will solve the issue if not, the best possible method to make those ugly zit marks to vanish is to forbid the marks from getting darker, help your skin’s renewal process and most of all, a ton of patience.
