How to Get Rid of Dark Lips

Dark, cracked lips can be embarrassing and ruin almost any look you’re trying to achieve, except perhaps Goth, which isn’t the world’s best business, romantic or “come hit her” look. It can come from smoking and also can be a sign of a disease, so if you have a severe problem, always consult a health care provider.

Dry, cracked lips also occur for a number of reasons. To change dark or cracked lips into soft supple inviting ones, a simple mixture applied daily is all you need.

③
Before applying the mixture, exfoliate your lips. Using a circular motion, exfoliate your lips using a pinch of sugar and honey. Wipe it all off with a tissue paper.

④
Grab a q-tip (cotton swab) and dip it in the mixture. Gently pat it on your lips in the morning (let it sit for 15-20 minutes and wash it off). Apply again before bedtime and don’t wash it off but leave it on overnight.

⑤
The mixture lasts ten to twelve days in the refrigerator, so making it once is all you need to do.

What Each Ingredient Does:
① Beet Juice:
Beet juice contains a number of nutrients, so if you consume a bit of this mixture when you put it on your lips, it will only benefit you, not harm you. It has protein, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin B6, A, C, calcium, iron, potassium, copper and manganese.

It also has a betalain pigment that gives beets its color and can naturally lighten your lips and give them a rosy glow. The nutrients act as antioxidants to keep lip cells healthy.

② Carrot juice:
The carotene in carrots converts to vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant that will help improve the texture and health of the lips, right down to the cellular level. Carotene gives the carrot the orange color and can offset the dark color of the lips, replacing it with a lighter, healthier look.

③ Olive oil:
This ingredient softens lips and moisturizes them. It can return them to a more youthful appearance with suppleness and a healthy glow. The antioxidants Vitamins A and E help repair skin and prevent further damage caused by cigarette smoking, often the culprit causing dark lips, and sun. It contains three other powerful antioxidants; caffeic acid, oleic acid, and oleuropein, that also protect lips skin cells.

④ Honey:
Honey is a humectant, which not only helps retain moisture, but attracts moisture to the lips, leaving them soft and supple.

⑤ Lemon juice:
When you add lemon juice to the mixture, it also increases the vitamin C content but also speeds the lightening process.

      @Anjali,
Yes, you can store the leftover in the fridge for 3-5 days, but once the mixture gets a funky smell, just discard it. Or you can put the mixture in the ice cube mold and store in the freezer. And get one ice cube and apply it on your lips.
