Heat-Free Curls for a Glamorous Look

I have naturally wavy hair, and my curling wand always gives me perfect curls. The problem is that I love curls and I often face a dilemma – should I style my hair or work on its health? This is the main reason why I got enthusiastic about heat-free styling options, particularly curl creation.

The method I’ve been using for the past years requires a bit of time but the results look spectacular. If you want to enjoy a curly hairstyle without doing any damage, you should give this possibility a try.

Here is another DIY to get curls overnight using the “sock bun” trick.

You’ll need:

  • Scissors
  • Clean thick socks
  • Rubber band
  • Water
  • Wide tooth comb

Directions:

Take the clean, thick sock and cut its upper part.
1-1

Start rolling from the end – you should get a donut-like sock shape. Make sure that the sock donut is tight.

2-1

Use the water to dampen your hair. You can use a spray bottle to simplify the process. Comb the hair through to distribute the moisture. Tie a high pony tail with a rubber band.

3-1

Insert the donut sock in the tip of the ponytail you just tied. Roll the donut inwards and tuck the ends of your hair in the bun that has just started to form.

4-1

Keep on rolling and tucking until you reach the rubber band. You should end up with a decent-looking bun. You may want to use a couple of bobby pins to secure it in place. Go to bed and wait for the magic to happen overnight.

5-1
Now, hit the bed with this bun.

Let your hair down the next day. You’ll end up with perfect large curls. A bit of hairspray will maintain their appearance throughout the day. Enjoy and repeat the next night!

      @Dr Maithili Rane,
      You can roll your hair up but stuffing the ends in the donut bun and roll it up. Try practicing this first until you get the groove.
      I didn’t make it correctly for the first time as well but with constant practice, I did it perfectly – now I can do it without even looking at the mirror.

      @Navneet,
      After cutting the tip of the sock, just roll the sock to make it look like a donut as per picture.
