Trying to grow healthy, long fingernails for some can be a non-event. No matter how hard you try, no matter what you do, you always seem to have weak nails, which break easily.

Fortunately, there is a way to help increase your nail strength without using any nail products.

Nail Hardeners Make your Nails Weaker Over Time
Have you noticed the longer you use a nail hardener product; your fingernails don’t actually look or feel any different. They still break, and chip and the dream of growing long fingernails are still non-existent.

The reason is, your nails are made up of long-chain amino acids, which are all cross-linking. When you apply a nail hardener to your nails, it creates more cross-linking.

The problem is, you end up creating too many cross-links, and in turn, the final result is weak and brittle fingernails.

Weak fingernails are usually contributed to not having enough long chain amino acids, crosslinking. Therefore, a nail hardener may work for you in the short term; overuse will give the opposite result.

Save yourself some money, and strengthen fingernails with a product you probably have in the kitchen pantry.

What You Need:

  1. Start off by taking one small garlic clove and chopping it into small pieces, until minced.
  2. Then add the minced garlic into a bottle of clear polish or top coat. Let it sit for a few minutes.
  3. While it’s sitting, file and buff nails.
  4. Now apply the garlic polish to your nails. One coat for each nail is enough.
  5. To remove that garlic-y odor, wash hands with a fresh squeezed lemon.

Or Grab yourself a garlic clove, peel it, cut it in half and rub it over your fingernails for about 20 to 30 seconds, on each nail. Making sure you also rub over your cuticles. This way you will have strong fingernails and healthy cuticles.

Do this daily for the first week, and then 2 to 3 times a week, until you notice an improvement in your fingernail strength.

Using garlic is the best and cheapest way to grow long fingernails, and you will definitely notice and feel an improvement.

The health benefits of garlic are quite amazing, it is full of vitamins and minerals, and some nail hardener products have a garlic extract in them.

Raw garlic contains, vitamins b1 (thiamine), b2 (riboflavin), b3 (niacin), b6 (pyridoxine), zinc, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin c, iron, magnesium, and selenium.

      @Richa,
I suggest you add this in a colorless nail polish since you will be applying this more often.
