If you’re trying to find a product that will stop hair loss, you’ll probably come across many products that are packed with strange coloring agents and nasty chemicals.

However, you may not be aware that coconut oil offers a natural hair loss treatment. Coconut oil offers many great benefits. It has antifungal and antibacterial properties, and it’s a superfood for the body as well.

As you search for hair growth products, you’ll find a lot of stuff chock full of nasty chemicals and weird coloring agents, but coconut oil is less often seen.

Coconut oil is a superfood for your body, as well as an antibacterial and anti-fungal agent packed with minerals and vitamins.

How can coconut oil help stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth?

Here’s a look at how coconut oil works.

① It Seals in Moisture
Regularly using coconut oil on your hair can help seal in moisture, ensuring that hair is moisturized and strong. The coconut oil is able to penetrate the hair shaft, which allows it to condition the hair from inside.

Using the coconut oil also ensures that the hair has enough moisture to keep it protected from heat and environmental impurities.

② It Protects Hair Proteins
Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which helps protect hair proteins. Lauric acid, a fatty acid, can easily bind hair proteins, preventing breakage and protecting the roots of your hair.

Studies have shown that coconut oil can prevent or reduce problems with hair protein loss more effectively than sunflower or mineral oils, which are often used in haircare products.

③ It Offers Essential Nutrients
You’ll also find that coconut oil offers many essential nutrients for hair, such as iron, vitamin K, and vitamin E. These nutrients help to promote softness and shine.

The vitamin E also helps to eliminate dandruff, which often causes the loss of hair.

④ It Increases Circulation to the Scalp
When you massage coconut oil into your scalp, it helps to increase circulation to the scalp. By improving the circulation to the scalp, your hair follicles are able to get the oxygen and nutrients that they need.

This helps promote hair growth and keeps hair follicles healthy.

⑤ It Has Antifungal and Antibacterial Properties
Coconut oil also has antifungal and antibacterial properties. These properties allow the oil to protect the scalp from lice and dandruff, both of which have the ability to reduce hair growth.

How to Use Coconut Oil to Promote Hair Growth

  • To use coconut oil for hair growth, you’ll need to begin by warming the oil. An easy way to heat the oil (without the use of microwave) is to fill a pan with water and let it boil and then, add a smaller bowl to the water with coconut oil in it.

Let the coconut oil melt, and once it’s melted let it cool down and then you can use it on your hair.

  • After the oil is warmed, gently massage the oil into the scalp. Make sure that you spread the oil over the entire scalp. Keep massaging the oil into the scalp for about five minutes. Then, oil the hair as well.

Allow the oil to sit on your scalp and hair for a minimum of 30 minutes or as long as four hours if you have a lot of hair breakage problems. Use shampoo to wash the coconut oil off your hair.

Does coconut oil really cure head lice?

Coconut oil can offer an excellent head lice treatment, and some studies have shown that using coconut oil and anise can be even more effective than any other lice treatment.

How to Use:
If you want to treat lice, soak your hair and scalp in coconut oil. Cover the hair with a towel, a shower cap, or some foil. Leave the oil on the hair overnight.

In the morning, wash out the oil using shampoo. There’s no evidence that this treatment works, but many proponents of all-natural remedies swear by it.
