It doesn’t matter whether your hair is dry, damaged or dull, there’s a mask you can make to bring it back to life. They help not only the hair shaft but also feed the roots of the hair to help nourish the hair as it grows.

Best of all, when you make your mask, you know the ingredients that go into it and don’t have harsh or toxic ones soaking into your scalp. You can pronounce and recognize every ingredient in these masks, so you’ll never have to worry because they’re all natural.

You can make a mask for the hair from raw honey, if you have it, organic honey will also work, virgin olive oil, water, and egg yolk. The honey is a natural humectant. A humectant not only attracts moisture, but it also holds it, which is ideal for dry or damaged hair.

Honey is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial. You can understand why it’s often used for recipes for facial masks, too. It works best when you use it with other ingredients, which you will for this recipe.

You’ll Need:

  • Virgin olive oil
  • egg yolk
  • raw honey (this is optional) especially for extra dry or sun damaged hair, will help strands retain their moisture.

Directions:
egg-yolk-1

① Combine two tablespoons of olive oil with one or two egg yolk (depends on the length of your hair) and dilute it with 1/4 cup of cold water (you can add some amount of raw honey), mixing it well. It’s important to make sure the water is cold since hot water can cook the yolk a bit.
② Massage this mixture into your dry hair, making sure some of it gets to the scalp. If you have extra long or thick hair, you may need to double the recipe or add egg yolk and a teaspoon more of water to provide enough to cover all your hair.

③ After massaging the scalp for a few minutes, cover your head with a shower cap or plastic bag if you don’t have a shower cap and allow the mixture to work for an hour.
④ At this point, you’ll be rinsing it out. Again, make certain you use cool water. When you’re sure it’s all rinsed, it’s time to wash and condition your hair with your normal shampoo.
⑤ Do this treatment once a week and you’ll see amazing results.

Benefits of the Ingredients
Egg yolk and olive oil are high in natural fats and fatty acids with the egg yolk having plenty of protein, vitamins and nutrients to help your hair grow, as well as make it softer and shiny.

The vitamin A, D and E in the egg yolk also help promote growth, prevent split ends and slow down hair loss, to make your hair thicker.

The olive oil prevents the production of DTH hormones, which causes hair loss and narrower hair shafts. It also promotes a healthier scalp, conditions the hair, has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties and improves blood flow to the scalp.
