Best Deep Conditioner & DIY Hair Mask – My hair felt noticeably silkier and smoother and when I blow-dried it after using this homemade hair conditioner
I’ve always emphasized the importance of a beautiful hair, but for past years, I dwelled mostly on commercial products aimed at enhancing their looks and committed to short-term gains.
I know that women rarely go bald, but I don’t intend to be one of the exceptions that confirm the rule, so when my hair started to fall out like crazy, I decided it was time to act.
What suggestion I got was to try fenugreek seeds and grind them into a powder, then use it in conjunction with yogurt to create a potent mixture. The friend who recommended this concoction told me that I wouldn’t have to trade looks for durability, so I’m extending this advice to you.
At least, in theory, you can safely use the homemade recipe in conjunction with commercial products, but let’s just say that the results are so impressive that you won’t feel the need of buying anything from a supermarket shelf.
The mixture has a two-pronged effect because, after a couple of weeks, I’ve noticed that this mask has cured my dandruff virtually and after a shower, much less hair was left behind, and my hair feels soft and silky.
Being obsessed about and investing so much in products aimed at enhancing looks, the only downside is that my friends didn’t immediately notice that I was using something else. Thinking twice about it, I realized that this is in fact great news because it means that you can achieve the same results with natural and less expensive products.

Homemade Remedies for Dry Hair: Ingredients:
- fenugreek seeds powder (you can buy this at your local indian store or you can order it online
- yogurt (plain, whole-fat greek yogurt is the best or you can use curd as well)
- olive oil or coconut oil (or argan oil)
① Grind the fenugreek seeds into a fine powder. You can use a blender or a coffee grinder (spice or nut grinder).
OR: Soak the fenugreek seeds overnight and grind them to make a paste and add the ingredients above.
② After grinding, transfer the powdered seeds into a container with a lid.
③ Add 3 – 4 tbsp of plain greek yogurt into a bowl and add 1 tbsp of fenugreek seeds powder. You can adjust the amount depending on your hair length.
④ Add 1 or 2 tbsp of olive oil (coconut or argan oil) into the mixture and mix them well.
⑤ Cover the bowl and let the mixture sit inside the fridge for about 2 – 3 hours. This process will enable the fenugreek seeds powder to swell and will thicken up hence a result of slight slimy consistency.
How to Use This DIY Hair Mask:
① Spray some water to make your hair damp and start applying this mask into your scalp and hair ends. *This is optional – apply melted coconut oil (or olive oil or argan oil) on your scalp separately.
② And then, massage your scalp for about 1-2 minutes and put a shower cap. Then, you can wrap a towel around your hair and leave this on for 30 – 45 minutes (I normally leave this on for an hour, but this is optional).
③ Wash and rinse thoroughly with your regular shampoo (no need for hair conditioner) and let your hair dry naturally.
④ Do this routine 2 or 3x a week to restore and maintain your hair.
To Get rid of Fenugreek Seeds Smell:
Some people have zero tolerance with the fenugreek seeds due to its sweet and pungent smell and if you find them too strong, you can lighten the smell by pan roasting the seeds for couple of minutes over a low/medium heat (but don’t over roast them). Make sure to stir the seeds constantly to avoid charring.
Using plain and whole fat yogurt is recommended particularly with live cultures to get the most health benefits for the scalp.
Yogurt substitute: If you are a vegan or don’t like putting yogurt on your hair, you can replace it with coconut milk. It offers similar hair benefits as yogurt. Also people with protein overload will benefit from using coconut milk.
If you Apply to Oiled Hair: You can apply the mask on oiled hair, just disregard the olive oil (or any oil) when preparing the mask.
