Homemade Face Serum for Fine Lines, Softer Skin and a Rosy Glow

Aging always occurs, no matter how good you take care of yourself. As a matter of fact, getting older is a blessing and far better than the alternative of not getting older because the Grim Reaper came to call.

Even though getting older is good, looking older isn’t what anyone hopes to achieve. Lines and wrinkles, plus rough, dry, dull skin can make you look older than your years.

To soften those lines and give your skin a rosy glow, you can create your homemade serum from four simple to find ingredients, rosewater, glycerin, olive oil and aloe vera gel.

Benefits of the Ingredients
① Olive Oil
Olive oil also provides antioxidant protection. It contains three of the major antioxidants that protect the skin cells from harmful free radicals. It doesn’t clog your pores while it moisturizes, either, unlike some commercial moisturizers. While it eliminates dryness, it softens the skin.

② Rosewater
The rosewater helps your face maintain the proper pH balance, fight’s acne and dermatitis and hydrates the skin. It has antioxidant properties that aid in tissue regeneration and nourishes the skin while revitalizing it. Rosewater can also help heal scars and blemishes too.

Rosewater has mildly astringent qualities, making it a good choice to remove excess skin oil and tone pores. You can even use it as a cleanser itself to remove excess dirt and oil, thus keeping pores unclogged.

③ Glycerin
Glycerin helps maintain the water balance of the skin by acting as a humectant, which is a substance that attracts water. It’s one reason many commercial skin care products include it in their formulas. It acts on an inter-cellular level, not just on the surface to combat dry, dull skin. It helps your skin look smoother and softer to the touch.

④ Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has been known for centuries as the plant of immortality. It might be because of the super healing powers the plant has. It’s a great moisturizer that doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy. It calms and soothes acne and can even help diminish scars.

Aloe Vera must have been used by Cleopatra to maintain her beautiful, youthful skin. It improves the elasticity of skin while helps eliminate the fine lines. That’s partly because of the high vitamin C, E and beta-carotene content that acts as antioxidants while improving the skin’s firmness, hydration and health.

You’ll Need:

  • 2 tbsp aloe vera
  • 1 tbsp rosewater
  • 2 tbsp glycerin
  • 1/2 tbsp olive oil

Note: Each ingredient is important. To get the best consistency, you’ll want to use the same proportions. Just mix all the ingredients and store in the fridge. It could last for a month. Apply this homemade face serum morning and night after cleansing your face.

I have a combination skin and have been using this serum for a week now. Its leaving my face sticky (not oily). Is it beacuse i have used extra virgin olive oil? Can i substitute with any other oil? And i have used natural aloe vera. Hope that is fine.
