This is more of a rhetorical question if you are thinking about the nutritional value of bananas, but I’m trying to make a different point here. While there is no reason to refrain from eating these delicious fruits, if you’re on a short supply you might be inclined to use it for homemade face mask recipes.

You wouldn’t be the first one to use bananas for firming your skin and nourishing it, as women throughout America were the real pioneers over the centuries.

What works for so many years should work brilliantly today, and the benefits of banana creams go beyond enhancing the visual appeal.

Rich in antioxidants and minerals, it speeds the healing process and also serves a clinical purpose by mitigating the effects of warts, acne and even psoriasis.

You can forget about those nasty itches that prevent the skin from healing completely because this face mask also deals with that burning sensation of itching.

If you’re lucky enough not to suffer from any skin disease and you have no use for such a mask to alleviate the effects of mosquito bites or allergies, you can still use bananas to look several years younger.

The face mask recipes will only set you back a couple of dollars, which is considerably less than what a cosmetic procedure costs. In terms of time, the investment is also minimal because in a matter of minutes you can create your homemade facial mask in a shoestring and apply it for several days in a row.

Banana Face Mask For Dry Skin

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons of sweet almond oil (you can substitute it with coconut oil or olive oil)
  • 1 ripe mashed banana

Why these Ingredients?

Banana Rich in vitamins A, B, and E, bananas are a great natural anti-aging ingredient (Vitamin A increases cell turnover while Vitamin E soothes and moisturizes). Acids from the banana also exfoliate dead skin.

Almond Oil Almond oil has been the best-kept secret to sooth dry skin, grow thick long hair and healthy nails, get rid of the dark circles around the eyes and even prevent stretch marks!

Why Egg Yolk? Eggs contain vitamin B2, vitamin B3, and zinc. Vitamin B2 can help alleviate stress, which is a known contributor to acne. Vitamin B3 aids with circulation, which can help skin look and feel healthier. Zinc boosts the immune system.

This can help acne heal and even prevent future breakouts. Also, eggs contain vitamin A, which is beneficial for scarring.

Exfoliating Banana & Honey Face Mask

Honey and banana have moisturizing and firming effects on the skin while the wheat germ acts as an exfoliating agent.

  • ½ ripe mashed banana
  • ¼ teaspoon of jojoba oil
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of wheat germ

Mash the ripe banana before adding jojoba oil and wheat germ, mix the ingredients thoroughly. Apply the mixture evenly over your face avoiding the eye area.

Gently massage the mixture using a circular motion and let the face mask sit for about 10-20 minutes. Rinse with warm/tepid water and splash your face with cold water to close the pores.
