Beauty doesn’t come cheap and even if you are blessed with a stunning appearance, you occasionally have to dig deep into your pockets to preserve it. Anti-frizz hair serums were a necessity for me and despite the fact that most of the bottles are greatly overpriced, I had no choice but to keep buying them. I regarded this expense as a fact of life that can’t be avoided, but never gave up hope of finding a homemade remedy.

The stick that broke the camel’s back was in my case, the fact that I discovered that the hair serum I was using was full of silicone. As you might suspect, this is anything but a natural ingredient and as most chemicals out there it has a negative side effect. The do-it-yourself remedy that I stumbled upon only uses four ingredients and fortunately all of them are 100% natural, which is a giant leap forward for me.

You’ll Need:

4 ounces Camellia Oil
1/2 ounce Castor Oil
1/2 ounce Unrefined Avocado Oil
20 drops organic Essential oils for scent – Just choose one oil (this is optional)
Dark Glass Bottle

Direction: Mix all the ingredients and apply a small amount to dry hair for smoothing and shine or rub a small amount to damp hair before blow-drying.

Where to Find:

Note!Sunlight is detrimental to all oil types so make sure to place all the above ingredients in a DARK GLASS bottle and shake well before application.

Here are some Organic Essential Oil according to the healing properties desired:

Basil: Oily hair. Promotes growth
Chamomile: Fine to normal hair. Gives golden highlights
Clary sage: All types of hair. Dandruff treatment
Lavender: Normal hair. Scalp treatment for itchiness, dandruff, and even lice!
Lemon: Oily hair. Gives golden highlights; treatment for dry scalp, dandruff, lice, and underactive sebaceous glands
Myrrh: Dry hair. Treatment for dry scalp, dandruff, lice, and underactive sebaceous glands
Patchouli: Oily hair. Dandruff treatment
Peppermint: Dry hair. Promotes hair growth
Rose: Fine hair. Soothes scalp
Rosemary: Oily hair. Dandruff treatment; promotes hair growth
Tea tree: Oily hair. Treatment for dry scalp, dandruff, lice, and underactive sebaceous glands
Ylang-ylang: Oily hair. Dandruff treatment

Why these Ingredients?
Camellia Oil: Camellia oil helps to condition the hair shaft, stimulate scalp circulation, and promote healthy hair growth by preventing breakage and split ends.
Avocado Oil : Its essential fatty acids strengthen the hair and keep it moisturized, the vitamin E it contains also conditions and moisturizes, and the proteins in avocado oil can fortify your hair.
Castor Oil: Smooths the hair cuticle, adds moisture, makes hair more manageable and controls an oily scalp.

I have to admit that the argument of a considerably lower price weighed heavily in the balance, but if this remedy would’ve been ineffective I would’ve surely return to my expensive but proven anti-frizz hair serum. The natural alternative only uses Camellia oil, Avocado oil, Castor oil and a few drops of essential oils which serve the purpose of giving it a pleasant scent. The concoction is supposed to be kept in a dark glass bottle, to prevent the negative effect of sunlight and you should shake it well before applying the mixture on your hair.
