Homemade Glycolic Acid Peel Mask for a Fresh, Bright Complexion

I can’t remember when was my last visit to the dermatologist. I believe it’s been 2 years when I took a giant leap forward by turning away my face from most of the synthetic cosmetic products available in the market today.

revised-1

If you are a beauty junkie like me, you are probably familiar with the Alpha Hydroxy Acids (aka AHAs) skin care products. AHAs are amazingly effective ingredients used in lots of skin-care whitening products and wrinkle creams, but these store-bought products come with a hefty price and mostly filled with nasty chemicals that would likely cause harm than good in the long run.

Besides, this Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) skin care products are easy to make if you have a fruit bowl and it’s also active in promoting the growth of new skin cells giving you a bright and clear skin.

Why Pineapple & Papaya?

Papaya is rich in natural alpha-hydroxy acids plus the fact that this fruit contains a high level of papain, an enzyme that aids in exfoliating dead skin cells.

While pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that helps remove the outer layers of skin. These fruit enzymes eat the “glue” that holds dead skin cells together, making it easy to rinse them away simply.

When used regularly, this facial mask can help keep your skin looking radiant, smooth, and soft. You may also notice other changes in skin’s appearance, like the minimizing of fine lines and wrinkles!

Without proper exfoliation, our skin looks dull, and with the use of this facial mask, you’re helping your skin to peel away those top layers hence, evening out the skin tone while reducing the appearance of wrinkles over time. It’s like getting a face-peel at home, without the nasty chemicals.

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice of fresh Papaya
  • 1 slice of fresh Pineapple
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

1Grab your papaya and pineapple and slice them off.

2Use a blender to get their juice or you can simply mash them up using a fork. The easiest way to get the juice is to squeeze the fruit into a bowl.

After that, you can add a teaspoon of organic honey to the mixture to moisturize the skin (this is optional).

3Apply the mixture on your clean face using cotton ball or a makeup brush. Lie down and relax and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

You may feel a little itchy and tingling sensation, but try not to scratch as this is the AHAs working to exfoliate your skin. If you have sensitive skin, reduce the time to around 10 minutes.

4Rinse it off with warm water and splash with cold water to close the pores. Moisturize as usual.

Do this routine once or twice a week for best result. If you have some leftover juice, you can store it in a closed container and put it in the fridge for a week’s consumption.

      @Anish,
They worked for me. Besides, you can’t expect overnight miracle cure if you are using natural remedies, consistency is the key.
