I came across this nice little concoction and thought it was a much better alternative than store bought medications.
Maybe you can give it a shot too. I know the change in season can sometimes bring colds, and so with winter coming up, it might be fun to share this one out there.
This is going to become a tea by the end of it, but it starts out by combining some ingredients together and setting in the fridge. Let’s get to the recipe!
How To Make It
- Start out with a mason jar or some other type of glass jar.
- I like to use organic ingredients as often as I can so if you can, use it for this as well.
- Cut up enough lemon into slices so that it fills roughly half to three-quarters of the jar you are preparing.
- Add in several slices of ginger to the mix.
There’s no precise amount of the ingredients as it depends on how many jars you are planning to create or how many lemons or ginger you have to add. You can be creative and experiment
In a jar combine lemon slices, organic honey, and sliced ginger. Close jar and put it in the fridge, it will form into a “jelly.”
To serve – spoon jelly into mug and pour boiling water over it. Store in fridge 2-3 months.
Be sure to use a good quality honey as a lot of honey sold these days is not even honey! You can read more about that here.
When you want to use the mixture, boil some water, put about a teaspoon of the jelly into a mug.
Add the water and then grab a good book, your pet or a blanket and settle down beside a fireplace and enjoy.
