Basil Health Benefits

Basil is delicious, and the herb adds a wonderful flavor to many different dishes. From salads to soups, to favorite pasta dishes, the herb turns foods into something special.

If you don’t use basil regularly, you’ll want to start adding it to your diet after you find out more about all the amazing benefits this aromatic herb offers.

Here is a closer look at some of the incredible benefits basil offers when you consume it regularly.

① Sexy Legs With Basil – Spider / Varicose Veins Be Gone
If you want to score great gams that are free from varicose and spider veins, consuming more basil may be the solution. When you get even a couple tablespoons of basil, you get a huge portion of your daily recommended allowance of vitamin K, which helps stimulate the production of thrombin in the body.

Thrombin is a clotting protein that keeps blood flow from damaged veins, re-routing blood flow to healthy, large blood vessels. Studies show that this could help shrink away varicose veins and spider veins within just a few weeks, resulting in more beautiful, young looking legs.

The end result is the reduction in spider or varicose veins. And the ones that you already are stuck with, will FADE AWAY with the help of basil.

Researchers at Maastricht University in the Netherlands discovered that this can cause spider and varicose veins to shrink and fade in as little as six weeks

② Decreases The Appearance of Wrinkles
One great benefit of basil is its ability to keep skin looking young and wrinkle free. When you eat basil regularly, it can reduce the appearance of wrinkles significantly within just a couple weeks.

How does it help reduce the appearance of wrinkles? The high concentration of flavonoids in basil helps the body create more collagen, which plumps skin and helps to keep wrinkles at bay.

Vitamin A is also found in basil, and Vitamin A works to increase the speed of cell turnover, which leads to glowing healthy skin.

③ Basil Burns Fat – Bye, Bye Big Belly
For this alone, I will eat basil by the handfuls! Another study at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville showed that basil might help burn off belly fat as well.

The calcium found in basil helps to suppress the output of calcitriol within the body. Calcitriol is a hormone that increases the storage of fat in the stomach area.

According to studies, consuming basil regularly can help you burn off that abdominal fat faster. Manganese is a mineral found in basil as well, which contributes to keeping blood sugar levels stable, contribute to reducing cravings while keeping blood sugar levels stable.

④ Natural Pain Relief
You may be surprised to find that basil also offers a natural way to relieve pain. Recent studies done at Michigan State University found that basil leaves are as effective as aspirin at relieving muscle pain.

Researchers believe that a component found in the natural oil of basil, Eugenol, helps keep inflammatory prostaglandins from being synthesized in the body, reducing the over-sensitization of nerves. Instead of reaching for a bottle of aspirin, consider reaching for a generous portion of basil leaves for a natural way to relieve those muscle aches and pains.

To enjoy these benefits, you’ll need to consume basil regularly. However, with the wonderful flavor basil provides, you’ll find it easy to toss some fresh basil into salads, pasta dishes, and other favorite foods.

Now, if you are not rushing to the store to get some basil and piling it on and in everything you eat, I don’t know what to say. I just threw some in my green tea, and it tastes….. interesting. Basil, I love you for all you do!
