You could have an acne breakout because of many reasons – hormones, environmental factors, and even stress could contribute to the appearance of zits. Though you have little control over these factors, it’s possible to get rid of acne quickly and efficiently.

Proper diet, exfoliation, and skin cleansing can all contribute to reduced likelihood of a breakout. A few habits can help you enjoy the clean and beautiful skin, regardless of other factors.

Still, you may get a zit or two now and then. A homemade, natural mask will be all you need to get rid of the inflammation, the redness, and the painful zits.

Why These Ingredients
Both tomatoes and lemons are excellent sources of vitamin C. A powerful antioxidant, it makes skin stronger, it clears the complexion, and it also reduces the prominence of acne scars. Also, tomatoes contain lycopene, which maintains clean pores. While oatmeal gently exfoliates, soothes and softens skin.

Precaution When Using this Mask
1. It’s fine to use this mask while you’re dealing with a breakout, but if you have broken skin on your face, you’re better off waiting as the acidity of lemon can irritate your broken skin.

Moreover, always test the mask on a small part of your skin before applying it everywhere. If you have sensitive skin, you may feel some irritation stemming from the acidity of the lemon and the tomato.

2. It’s also important to keep in mind that lemon juice makes your skin photo-sensitive. After you’re done with the acne treatment, you’ll need to apply some sunscreen when going outdoors, so it’s best to do this routine in the evening. It will keep your skin protected and reduce the likelihood of getting dark spots.

You can use this mask once or twice a week to help maintain glowing skin and avoid breakouts. Here’s the recipe!

You’ll Need:

  • 1 teaspoon rolled oats
  • 1 small tomato – about the size of your fist or smaller will do the trick
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Directions:

① If you’re using whole oats, you’ll need to put them in the blender. You should be able to achieve a fine powder. Add the chopped tomato and the lemon juice. Blend until you get a smooth, homogeneous mixture.

② Clean your face and apply a thick layer of the mask. Massage it gently in the most affected areas with your fingers.

③ Let the ingredients act for 10 to 15 minutes and wash your face with lukewarm water and follow with cold water, or you can use a damp washcloth to wipe off the mask.

④ Moisturize and apply sunscreen before going out.

Note: Test the mixture on a small area of skin before you use it on your face to make sure you aren’t allergic to it.

To get the best results against acne, you should get in the habit of using the mask at least once per week.

Can we substitute oats with anything else?

      @Ankita Tibrewal,
Use raw sugar OR BESAN FLOUR instead if you dont have sensitive skin.
