3 Old-Fashioned Treatments for Fading Blemishes and Acne Scars

Most people deal with blemishes at some point in life, whether it’s a face full of pimples or just a single pimple here and there. Usually, we turn to products that have harsh chemicals like benzoyl peroxide, which has been shown to promote tumor growth in a study done on mice.

It’s a better idea to use products that aren’t tested on animals, and you want options that don’t come with harmful side effects.

Maybe you should consider skipping the drugstore products. Instead, consider using all-natural remedies made from spices and fresh fruits.

After all, these remedies have been used for hundreds of years to treat many ailments. Consider going with traditional treatments for your blemishes and acne scars. Here are three all-natural face masks you can try.

① Banana Peel Scar Reducer
Don’t throw away your banana peel after eating a banana or putting one in a smoothie. These peels have some great antioxidants in them and they can be used on skin with great results.

Using banana peels on your skin can help to eliminate current acne, and it can also contribute to fade old scars. The peels can even help prevent new breakouts.

How To:

When you use this treatment, you should only use the inner peel of the banana. All you need to do is massage the banana peel on the affected skin.

You can do this twice a day. Continue rubbing the peels on your skin until they begin to turn brown. This way you get the most out of the peels.

While your skin will feel a little sticky, it is worth the feeling to see the great results. You should leave it on skin for at least 30 minutes before you rinse it away. You will begin seeing great results after using this treatment for a week.

② Lemon Spot Treatment
Lemons are a power fruit. They taste amazing in drinks and foods, they smell wonderful, and they are great for skin.

Lemons have antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibacterial properties, which means that they can prevent infection and treat blemishes effectively. This fruit can also help to fade scars and brighten your skin.

How To:

Using lemon juice to treat pimples is so simple. Squeeze some juice out of a fresh lemon and then, dab a bit of the juice right on the blemish using a Q-tip.

Let the juice dry and then moisturize your face as normal. You can use this spot treatment before you go to bed and when you wake up in the morning.

If a pimple is open, the juice will burn a bit, but this only lasts for a few seconds. The lemon juice will help to prevent infection in an open pimple.

③ Honey and Turmeric Mask and Scrub for Clear, Glowing Skin

Turmeric is a spice that has some wonderful health benefits, and it also can help brighten your skin. Both turmeric and honey have antibacterial properties, so combining these ingredients allows you to create a mask that will offer powerful results. To turn this mask into an exfoliating scrub, add a bit of sugar.

How To:

This mask and scrub is easy to make. Simply combine a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of turmeric, and 1-2 teaspoons of honey in a small bowl, mixing well.

If you plan to use it as a mask, apply it to skin after cleansing. The skin should be slightly damp when you apply it. Add an even, thick layer of the mask and leave on skin for as long as 30 minutes.

Sometimes the turmeric will slightly stain skin, but a gentle facial cleanser will easily wash it away, or you can apply olive oil on your skin and gently wipe it off with a damp washcloth or paper towel.

If you want to use this treatment to exfoliate skin, massage gently into damp, cleansed skin using small circular motions. Continue for two minutes and then rinse away with warm water.
