Keep Those Citrus Peels and Use Them for Stunning, Brighter Skin

I didn’t know about this great idea in the past, and I cringe when I think about all the citrus fruit peels I threw away. Whenever I have lemons, limes, or oranges around, I always save the peels.

I dry them and turn the peels into powder. This means I don’t need to head to the store if I need a bit of citrus flavor for something I’m cooking.

I even use the powdered citrus peels to make a DIY facial mask that helps to eliminate acne scars and pigmentation, leaving me with stunning, bright skin.

Benefits of Using Citrus Peels

You already know that citrus fruits offer many health benefits. However, you may not be aware that the peels actually have a higher amount of nutrients, minerals, and vitamins than the fruit does.

The juice of these fruits can be beneficial for skin, so the fruit peels offer even more great benefits when you use them on your skin.

If you want an effective, all-natural ingredient to use in your face masks, you’ll definitely want to try using citrus peel powder. You can use it in face masks to enjoy many great results.

  • It works wonderfully on oily skin
  • it helps to lighten skin
  • it also helps to eliminate acne scars, blemishes, and discoloration
  • help to give you soft, smooth skin
  • it will help eliminate those pesky blackheads

How To Powder the Peels

  • Leave the peels/rinds outside for a couple of days until they are dried and curled up
  • Finely grind the dried peels/rinds in a spice grinder, a blender or with a mortar and pestle.
  • As long as the powdered zest is completely dry, it should last for about a year. Store it in the refrigerator to prolong the shelf life.

  • Mix the citrus rind powder with milk (or distilled water, Rosewater, yogurt/curd). Use both citrus peel powder and milk in equal amounts (or 1:1 ratio). Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth paste consistency.
  • Apply the paste all over your face and keep it on for around 20-30 minutes or till it dries.
  • Rinse off mask with warm water and be sure to remove gently. Make sure not to scrub the facial area hard while washing off as this might do considerable damage to the skin.
  • The Results

When you use your own citrus peel mask, you will notice that your skin feels vibrant and fresh. The mask helps to absorb any extra oil, reducing that shine that often occurs if you have extra oil on your skin.

This mask will also eliminate dry, dead skin cells, giving you skin that looks bright and clean.

        @Sindhu,
You can actually mix them up but I prefer to use them alternately.
