Most people are aware of the antioxidant and anti-aging powers of vitamin C. Not only can vitamin C offer great results when taken internally, but it provides great results when you use it topically on the skin as well.
Several years ago, a friend told me about this vitamin C mask. I loved the idea and started adding vitamin E oil to the mask as well to increase the benefits. Of course, if you want, you can add the contents of a Coenzyme Q-10 pill to the mask as well.
Vitamin C Helps Eliminate Wrinkles
① Vitamin C can also help to prevent and even eliminate wrinkles. Vitamin C is essential to collagen production and collagen helps to keep skin elastic.
② Collagen tends to break down as you grow older, which allows those wrinkles to form. By increasing vitamin C in the body, you can also increase the production of collagen, treating current wrinkles and preventing further wrinkles.
③ You can also add a liquid Co-Q 10 pill to the mix. This is a fun and effective way to rejuvenate your skin. People with sensitive skin should be cautious when using this mask because it is very stimulating.
If you feel any burning sensation, rinse the mask off immediately. Some tingling may occur due to the oxidation of the Vitamin C powder.
Benefits of Vitamin C for Skin
① When you begin applying vitamin C topically, you’ll enjoy a number of great skin benefits. Vitamin C is very concentrated when used on the skin, and it is absorbed quickly.
② It penetrates the skin deeply and helps to reduce free radical damage that is caused by pollution, UV light, and smoke. Vitamin C also helps to enhance your skin’s protective barrier, improving skin hydration.
Some of the other benefits of applying vitamin C topically include:
- Prevents premature aging
- Stimulates the production of collagen
- Improves skin elasticity
- Decreases the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
- Lightens brown spots
- Brightens skin and evens skin tone
- Helps reduce acne
- Restores the sebum balance
- Protects skin against UVB and UVA rays
Benefit of Vitamin E for Skin
① Using vitamin E topically is a wonderful way to prevent wrinkles and reduce the appearance of current wrinkles and fine lines. Since vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant, it also helps to reduce the damage done by free radicals, preventing premature aging.
② It also helps treat and prevent wrinkles by boosting the production of collagen and increasing the speed of cell regeneration.
③ Vitamin E also contributes to fade scars, such as acne scars and reduces the appearance of brown spots found on the skin. The vitamin E also helps to balance oil production and keeps skin hydrated by preventing water loss from the skin.
A Note of Caution
Those who have very sensitive skin need to be careful when using the vitamin C mask. Vitamin C can be quite stimulating. If you use the mask and begin to feel any burning, immediately rinse away the mask.
However, some tingling is normal.
