So many spas have started giving their clients access to chocolate facials – the delicious treat happens to be much more than just one of the most enjoyable sweet temptations.
Instead of spending a lot of money on a facial, however, you can easily get the chocolate benefits at home.
Chocolate can be used to soften the skin, give it a healthy glow and smooth out wrinkles. Since I’m mostly a DIY girl, I decided to come up with a homemade chocolate facial recipe.
This idea has been tested, and I can assure you that the effects are spectacular!
Benefits of Chocolate Facials
① Dark Cocoa Powder
Cocoa powder is a potent antioxidant, and it contains natural oils that nourish the skin and helps smooth out wrinkles. Also, cocoa powder can produce cellular repair and restore the firmness of your skin.
It’s also a wonderful source of essential vitamins and minerals. Cocoa powder can be used as a natural defense against the harmful UV rays.
② Coconut oil
Coconut oil nourishes and repairs even the driest of skin. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties, as well and it keeps moisture locked inside the skin for a long period of time.
③ Raw Honey
Raw honey is a natural humectant as it attracts and retains moisture, when used in skin, it seals the moisture leaving skin soft and supple.
It has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that make it perfect for acne-prone skin.
Types of honey differ greatly in their antimicrobial potency, and Manuka honey has the highest potency of such antimicrobial properties.
You’ll Need:
- 2 tbsp of cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp of raw honey
- 1 1/2 tbsp of organic coconut oil (melted)
*You want a paste-like consistency so add a tiny bit more cocoa powder if needed.
Directions:
① Put the cocoa powder, honey, and melted coconut oil in a dish.
② Stir well together. The mask should have the consistency of a thick paste. If you get a runny mixture, you may add some more cocoa powder.
③ Use your fingers (or a soft facial brush) to gently apply an even layer of your mask to your cleansed skin.
④ Let the mask act for 15 to 20 minutes and wash your face with lukewarm water. Follow up with a toner and moisturizer and you’re done!

@Sugarbee,
You can use the regular honey but if possible, use the raw, unfiltered honey for better results.
