No one likes to spend big bucks on a skincare cream, and it’s really awesome when you can find a great night cream that provides amazing results without breaking the bank.
If you want to save some money on your skincare products, consider making your own DIY, natural night cream. All the ingredients are cheap, you can make it in no time and it provides amazing results.
You Will Need
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- ½ cup of plain yogurt
- ½ teaspoon of lemon juice
Directions:
Combine those ingredients and you’ll have a wonderful smelling face cream that will give you great results when you use it every night.
Wash your face with a mild cleanser suited for your skin type, pat your face dry and apply a thin layer of the cream on your face.
Let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse it off as usual. (If the turmeric stained your face, just wipe it off with olive oil). Use this cream every night for great results.
Once you mix up your night face cream, make sure you store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container. When using the cream, apply just a thin layer to the face and allow to stay on the face overnight.
After using the cream for several days, you’ll begin seeing a difference in your skin.
Benefits of Yogurt for Skin
Why add yogurt to your DIY, natural night cream? Yogurt offers many benefits, especially since it’s packed with lactic acid, important antioxidants and probiotics.
One benefit of yogurt is that the lactic acid and enzymes in yogurt help to eliminate dead skin cells. The vitamin E and vitamin B both work to help lock in moisture while nourishing your skin.
The lactic acid works to tighten pores and the antimicrobial powers of yogurt help it eliminates oil and germs that can cause acne. Since yogurt contains important probiotics, it helps to reduce skin inflammation while returning skin to its natural pH balance.
Benefits of Orange Zest for Skin
Sure, you already know that oranges offer great health benefits, but you may not realize that orange zest offers some great benefits, especially for your skin.
Raw orange peels include vitamin A, potassium, riboflavin and other important nutrients.
Of course, the antioxidants in orange zest also benefit your skin. The orange oil found in the peel helps to cleanse skin and it adds a wonderful smell to your night cream so your skin smells amazing.
Benefits of Lemon Juice for Skin
Lemons also add a citrus smell to your night cream, but the lemon juice offers some great skincare benefits as well.
Lemon juice works well for removing blackheads, it helps to exfoliate your skin, removing those dead skin cells and it even helps to improve skin elasticity.
Applying lemon juice to your skin also naturally lightens and brightens skin, giving you a youthful glow and reducing the appearance of age spots.
Benefits of Turmeric Powder for Skin
Last, turmeric powder also offers some great skin benefits. It helps to even out skin tone and reduces pigmentation.
It also helps to eliminate acne and improves the elasticity of your skin, which helps to combat the signs of aging.
Turmeric contains antioxidants that help to fight the free radicals that cause aging, making it a great ingredient to add to your night cream.
Hi Mizz Calleigh. This may be a stupid question but with the yogurt night cream- can we use plain GREEK yogurt? I believe it has more of all the good stuff or does it?
hi Kathy Soga,
Yes, you can use plain greek yogurt (whole fat), I normally use that one.
I don’t get it.. How long do we need the cream to sit on the face? 15 mins or overnight?
@Anna,
You can leave this mixture on your face overnight (which is optional) or you can just let it sit for 15-20 minutes and rinse off.
