The Best DIY Lactic Acid Facial

Cleopatra’s gorgeous skin made lactic acid famous. She used to bathe in milk, which kept her skin smooth and supple.

Found naturally in milk, lactic acid acts as both to exfoliate and to moisturize. It helps to brighten skin tone, soothe dryness and stop skin flaking.

Have you ever researched lactic acid spa treatments? If so, you know how expensive these could be. This is why I experimented with some ingredients at home to come up with my own natural lactic acid treatment.

It is simple, very inexpensive and 100 percent safe. You will get smoother, tighter and younger skin in a matter of minutes.

Ingredients and Their Benefits
The two ingredients you will need to make a lactic acid mask at home are powdered milk and apple cider vinegar (preferably organic and unfiltered).

Powdered milk is an excellent source of lactic acid, and when applied to the skin it is very useful in smoothing, toning and tightening the skin. It is a perfect option for the ladies that have large pores.

To make the effects of the mask even more noticeable, combine the powdered milk with apple cider vinegar – one of the most unusual substances you can add to your cosmetic products.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 tbs of powdered milk (found at natural grocery stores)
  • Raw apple cider vinegar (you can create ACV from scratch, instructions here)

① Put the powdered milk into a small mixing bowl and add a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar until you have a smooth paste. If it is too watery add more powdered milk until you have a good consistency.

② Apply the mask evenly to a clean face with either your fingers or a mask brush (you can find at beauty store). Leave on for 15-20 minutes.

③ Remove with a soft facial cloth and lukewarm water. Follow up with a moisturizer and sunscreen if you plan on going outside.

Note: This treatment contains two natural acids, which is why you will probably experience a little bit of stinging the first time you try it.

Once you remove the mask for your face, you will probably notice some redness. Both of these are normal and non-harmful.

You will feel the skin tightened and the facial is great for dealing with excessive dryness or excessive oiliness. The results will be felt immediately after the first usage.

Having this kind of mask once or twice per week will give you smooth and beautiful skin that is protected from harmful influences and free from imperfections.

I love the way this mask instantly tightens my skin, shrinks my pores and gives me that just had a facial “glow.”

Apple Cider Vinegar and Skincare
Apple cider vinegar is a natural alpha hydroxy acid. It improves complexion and restores skin’s natural pH balance. It softens and tones the skin and it can also be used as a very efficient acne remedy.

The raw and unfiltered vinegar has antiseptic and anti-bacterial qualities. When skin is cleaned and toned with apple cider vinegar, it gets a thin layer that protects it from bacteria, pollution, and other harmful environmental influences.

If you want to experience even better results, you should consider drinking apple cider vinegar. It detoxifies the organism, which means your skin will soon start to glow.

Also, Apple cider vinegar has amazing weight loss benefits, as well.

    ACV has very strong pungent odor. It is difficult to apply or keep this mask on for longer time. Is there any alternative to reduce smell of ACV?

      hi vandana,
      You can reduce the amount of ACV then.

    can i use raw milk instead of powdered milk???

      @Jasneet,
      You can use the raw whole fat milk as well but the consistency of the mixture would be different. I like to use the powder milk because you can use it as a gentle exfoliator as well aside from getting a thick-paste consistency and the mixture easily adhere to your face.

      @Poormina,
      If possible, find the raw, unfiltered ACV (apple cider vinegar) for best result.
