Sometimes the most straightforward solutions are also the most effective ones, but if you think that going to the beauty shop to buy zit zappers is the way to go, think again. I don’t say that commercial products don’t work or that you should avoid them altogether, but I suggest a more effective and less expensive remedy.

Whether you are on a budget or merely concerned about the chemical ingredients that find their way into these commercial products, you should keep an eye open to homemade remedies.

Sensitive skin makes it much more difficult to solve seemingly minor problems such as pimples without triggering a chain reaction.

Unlike commercial products that keep you guessing about what those ingredients are all about, a homemade solution shatters any doubts.

You know what gets added to the mix and you can stick to ingredients that are proven and didn’t cause any nasty side effects in the past.

You’ll Need:

  • Virgin Coconut Oil
  • Tea Tree Essential Oil
  • Lip Balm Tubes

What to Do:

  • Melt 1/8 cup of coconut oil (disregard this process if you already have a melted coconut oil).
  • Once the coconut is melted, you can add 5 or more drops of tea tree essential oil.
  • Mix and blend thoroughly then use an eye drop dropper to add into the lip balm tubes.
  • It should only take a few minutes for the coconut oil to set up.
  • Store the tubes in the fridge so they don’t melt and use as needed as a homemade zit zapper spot targeting treatment. This method works very well for me.

Why these Ingredients?
Coconut Oil is naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal. It helps with redness and puffiness and will fight bacteria.

Tea Tree Oil is also antibacterial and anti-fungal so it gives it an extra kick. You can apply this homemade zip zapper as needed.

Other Natural Home Remedies for Acne Spot Treatments

If you need more than just spot treatment you can try some of the other ideas listed below. One may work for you that won’t work for someone else, it all depends on your skin type!

① Raw Apple Cider Vinegar:

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • Dip a clean q-tip into raw, organic raw apple cider vinegar. Use the acv saturated q-tip to gently rub your blemish. do not rinse (no, you won’t stink).
  • If your blemishes are a little more than a few spots, you can use a cottonball to apply full strength acv to the affected areas. do not rinse.
  • You can use this up to twice a day, but be wary of drying your skin out. start with once a day, before you go to sleep.

② Aloe Vera

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • Either use it straight from the plant, or find a pure, organic version. using a cotton ball or q-tip, rub onto blemish
  • No need to rinse, but you can.

③ Ice Cubes (to reduce redness & promote blood flow)

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • Rub an ice cube over your blemish for 3-5 minutes

④ Organic Raw Honey (Manuka Honey is the Best)

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • Using a q-tip, put a TINY dab of raw, organic honey onto your blemish and gently rub
  • Place a bandaid over top of the honey & blemish
  • Sleep your blemish away

⑤ Banana Peel

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • Peel a banana, and keep the peel
  • Rub the peel directly onto the blemish for a couple minutes
  • Rinse away residue & go about your day/go to sleep

⑥ Turmeric/Nutmeg

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • In a small, clean bowl, mix 1 part turmeric powder, 1 part nutmeg, and just enough honey or water to make a paste
  • Using a q-tip/cottonball, apply to your blemish

⑦ Lemon Juice

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • Apply straight lemon juice to your blemish to dry it up
  • stay out of the sun if you don’t rinse the lemon juice off. it can lighten skin/irritate it

⑧ French Green Clay Powder

  • Clean your face with hot water/washcloth to remove excess residue
  • Dilute clay with distelled water to make a paste
  • Applying clay to your face and to your trouble spots will help draw out bacteria and reduce swelling and redness. I normally use Green Clay Powder from Amazon.
