Brighten Your Skin Tone with DIY Facial Bleach

In our society, we equate a glowing, flawless complexion with beauty and youth. Women who deal with age spots, hormonal pigmentations or birthmarks try to conceal these marks to improve their beauty.

If you want to eliminate hyperpigmentation problems, you have multiple options. Laser therapy, chemical peels, and prescription drugs can be used to reduce these spots.

Other women turn to over the counter serums, lotions, and creams. If you have a mild or moderate hyperpigmentation problem, you may want to try using DIY skin whitening remedies.

Through the years, I’ve tried various natural bleach recipes. However, this recipe is one of my favorites, and I regularly use it. Not only does the DIY bleach help eliminate grime and dirt from skin, but it also contributes to lighten skin tone if you use it regularly.

Why These Ingredients
① Mint Leaves:
One of the important ingredients found in this DIY facial bleach is mint leaves. Many cosmetic products use mint because it offers excellent skin lighting and brightening properties.

Skip the high price tag of in-store products and make your bleaching remedy with mint leaves. Just make sure that you don’t use wilted mint leaves since they won’t provide the results you want.

② Yogurt:
Another great ingredient for a DIY facial bleach is yogurt. The yogurt helps to condition your skin and reduces any burning that comes with using the bleach.

You may still feel a slight burning sensation, but it will go away quickly. When you choose yogurt for your bleach, make sure you choose unflavored, organic yogurt.

Note: If you use wilted mint leaves, there will be no effect in the skin and there will be no burning sensation too. If you are using store bought yogurt, try to buy the organic, unflavored one.

You’ll Need:

  • 1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tbsp of yogurt or curd (whole fat/unflavored)

A word of caution here: If your skin is sensitive, this DIY facial bleach may not be for you. When you use this mixture, you will find that it stings and burns a bit. However, it does provide the great results you want with all-natural ingredients.

Directions:
① Take a fresh yogurt and hang it in a cloth to remove the moisture. I used my double layered strainer to drain the water.

② Grab the fresh mint leaves and wash it well to remove the mud. Crush the mint leaves using a pestle and mortar and add the hung yogurt to get a smooth paste.

③ Pat the paste on affected skin, leaving on for 20 minutes. Rinse your skin with cold water. Continue the lightening treatment for 15 days or until you see results.

NOTES:

  • Do a patch test if you are using this the first time to see how your skin reacts.
  • This DIY mask is not applicable for young girls as they wont be able to tolerate the burning sensation.
  • The burning sensation lasts only for some time and this bleach is very safe.
  • Once you tolerate the initial burning sensation, you will love this bleach very much.

      @Asima,
      Every skin reacts differently. You may not feel the burning sensation though but the mask still works on your skin and if use regularly, you will see improvements soon.

      @Supreeta Kapoor,
      Since we are using natural ingredients, your son can use this mask as well but make sure to do a patch test first and see how his skin reacts.
