[thrive_drop_caps color=’red’ style=’1′]U[/thrive_drop_caps]nfortunately, winter can be tough on your hair. After all, your hair deals with dipping temperatures, dry indoor heat, and hats. All the problems winter brings often leads to flaky, brittle, thinning, dull hair.

However, you’re not doomed to wear a ponytail or a bun every day during the winter months. You may be surprised to find that there is a solution to your winter hair problem – red hibiscus oil.

Making your own DIY hair mask with this oil can help you eliminate lifeless hair, bringing back beautiful, shiny locks.

Red hibiscus grows in warm climates like Hawaii and Egypt, and in India, it is considered scared due to its associations with Lord Ganesha and the Goddess Kali.

Studies have shown that hibiscus actually offers some excellent health benefits and cosmetic properties. In fact, Ayurvedic practitioners have been using hibiscus for centuries in various beauty treatments.

  • The oil from red hibiscus petals creates a hydro-lipid film that gives a silky smoothness to even the most brittle strands.
  • Red hibiscus oil has hydroxy acids that restore the balance of cellular division, hence treating dandruff.
  • It is rich in antioxidants that restore vitality and neutralize the effects of environmental pollutants.
  • Hibiscus are rich in linolenic and hyaluronic acids that stimulate hair growth and strengthen your hair.

Scientific research backs up some of the benefits of hibiscus. According to studies the oil that comes from red hibiscus petals provides smoothness to dry, brittle hair by creating a hydro-lipid film.

The oil also contains significant hydroxyl acids that help to eliminate dandruff by bringing back balance to cellular division. Red Hibiscus oil is packed with antioxidants that contribute to reducing environment pollutant effects while restoring health and vitality to hair.

You’ll Need:

  • hibiscus flowers (or you can buy dried hibiscus powder online)
  • coconut oil (or mustard oil – you can use any of your favorite oil)

Directions:
① First, crush the hibiscus flower (petals) using the mortar and pestle to make a paste.

② Then mix them with coconut oil (or your favorite oil) – one teaspoon of crushed/powdered petals to one teaspoon of oil is a good ratio.

③ Massage this concoction into the scalp and let it sit for 20-30 minutes and rinse as usual. Do this once a day for at least a week.

Note:
You will not see results for a few days, but after about four days, you are going see significant results. Expect to see glossy, beautiful, healthy hair. Instead of hiding your hair, you will be able to show it off, even during the rough, cold winter months.

Oil extracted from hibiscus flower or the leaves helps to grow your hair longer and maintain long hair, prevent split ends by using the oil on your hair end. The flowers can use as a hair rinse to thicken your hair.
