You probably think that you’re well-informed about tips and products that can help you manage your hair. However, you may not be aware that you can make some all natural products to battle problems with frizz.

Instead of using products with harsh chemicals or exposing your hair to all the head of a blow dryer, why not use your own hair straightening treatment. You may find that an all natural straightening cream is your new go-to when you want sleek, frizz-free hair.

If you want to skip the chemical products and heat treatments, consider going with a natural way to eliminate frizz and straighten hair. You can make your own straightening cream with a few ingredients that you may already have on hand.

These ingredients work together to smooth and straighten hair fast. This cream is also safe for any hair type, and after using it, hair will stay beautiful and straight for days.

Benefits of the Ingredients:
Coconut – All of the ingredients in this natural, straightening cream work to smooth hair, hydrating it so you don’t deal with frizz. Frizz often occurs when hair is dry, and the moisturizing, conditioning power of the coconut oil will help to give you smooth, sleek hair.

Gelatin – The gelatin makes the cream thick enough to stay in your hair and helps to strengthen hair as well. Gelatin also helps to prevent breakage and split ends while improving hair’s shine.

Honey & Lemon Juice – The honey in this cream will offer nourishment for your hair, and the lemon juice helps strengthen hair, prevents breakage, makes hair look shinier, and can even lighten your hair a bit.

You’ll Need:

  • Coconut Milk
  • Pure Coconut oil
  • Honey
  • Cornflour
  • Lemon juice
  • Gelatin Powder

Directions:
① Place 1 cup of coconut milk into a pot or pan and heat on a very low flame, add 2 Tbsp of coconut oil and stir well.

② Mix 2 tbsp of cornflour (or cornstarch) powder and 2 tbsp of gelatin powder in a separate container.

③ Once thoroughly mix, add this in the coconut milk mixture and stir until the mixture reaches into a semi paste-like consistency.

④ Turn off the flame and let it cool slightly. After the mixture has cooled down, you can add 2 tbsp of raw honey and 2 tbsp of fresh lemon juice. Mix well.

How to Do it:
① After you whip up your all natural straightening cream, apply it to your clean and dry hair that has been completely combed out, devoid of knots and tangles.

② Separate hair into small sections and apply the mixture from the roots to the ends of hair, working through hair thoroughly.

③ After every application, gently pull the section down to maintain the straightness.

④ After coating each section, let the mixture sit for around 30 minutes and rinse it off with cold water.

You can apply the conditioner but DON’T shampoo your hair at this point. Maintain to hang your hair straight while applying conditioner and leave it for 4-5 minutes before rinsing it off with a very small amount of shampoo.

⑤ For the best results, avoid towel drying or blow drying hair. Simply comb the hair straight down and allow it to air-dry so you get the straight, smooth hair that you want.

      hi Bryan,
Just keep stirring until you reach the semi-like paste consistency, it could take around 5-10 minutes or more depends on how low the fire is.

      hi Jojo,
You can actually comb your hair straight down ( but towel drying is not advisable) and allow it to air-dry so you get the straight, smooth hair that you want. You only use a small amount of shampoo when rinsing it off as per instructions.

    Hi Calleigh,

I don’t know if you mentioned this in a comment already, but how long is this mixture able to sit before I shouldn’t use it again? Also, the measurements you recommended is for how uses? I have shoulder length hair, and it’s somewhat thick, if these measurements is for longer hair, how can I adjust accordingly?

      hi Josephine,
This ratio is enough for your shoulder length hair, if the mixture is not enough, you can just adjust the ratio by adding 1/2 amount of each ingredient.

      hi Deepika,
If the mixture gets hard and dry, try adding more water and re-heat it, its the gelatin that makes the mixture easily get dried or hard. Let me know how it works for you.
