I think this is not the first time I rave about the benefits that green tea has on the skin. We all know how powerful green tea is on our body due to the high amount of antioxidants that it has. However, green tea works magically when used externally as well.
Whenever I get caught up without a scrub or a toner, I never panic because my skin loves green tea and honestly this DIY green tea scrub and green tea toner works just as fine if not even better as any other products I have ever used.
This is why I love it:
Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, antibacterial, helps with acne prone skin, brightens the skin, removes dead cells, unclog pores, reduces scars and dark spots.
Green Tea Scrub:
For the scrub all I used was muscovado sugar (or you can use raw brown sugar) and I’ve open the green tea teabag. I mixed it both and I added one small spoon of green tea just to add some moisture, so that it could be even softer on the skin.
The green tea leaves are very soft on the skin but together with the muscovado sugar gives a little bit of a grip which very gentle exfoliates the skin just as you need, gentle but thorough. This is a natural process, your skin will not suffer; will not break out and this costs almost nothing.
I do not keep my scrub for more than a day in the fridge, I always use it fresh because I want to have all those good ingredients doing something on my skin, and I recommend you to do the same. Scrub very well, and rinse with warm water afterwards.
Green Tea Toner:
For the green tea toner all you have to do is make a strong cup of green tea and transfer it to a bowl or a plastic bottle and use it as you would use a toner.
Pour the green tea into a cotton pad and swipe all over your face avoiding the eye area. I store mine for a couple of days in the fridge also and I use it day and evening on my normal facial routine. Simply as that, the green tea is very powerful to clear the skin and leave your skin brighter and clearer, it balances the skin PH and it’s also being said that shrinks large pores.
I absolutely love the way my skin really clears up after I use green tea for a couple of days. I can see that all those little and tiny pimples that I have on my skin, becomes clear and the skin gets brighter overall. I have a very oily T zone and dehydrated skin overall and I always feel my skin well balanced after I use it.
This is a great alternative to your regular sugar and oil facial scrub, and toners full of alcohol which will only dry your skin. If you do enjoy natural skincare and good ingredients on your skin, you will love the benefits of green tea. As with any natural beauty treatment, be really consistent with it, it does work.
Do not forget to moisturize your face well afterwards.
