It’s officially summer, well… here in California. So I figured writing a series of posts revolving around the hot summer months would be useful. I am a busy mom and always on the move which means, my time is spent mostly in the car. I personally tend not to re-touch my makeup by putting more face powder on my face.
Instead, I made my own face blotting papers and face misting sprays. These are the perfect options compare to the store-bought products and besides, they are easy to stash in my glove compartment or in my purse for a quick touch up during the scorching summer months.
Blotting papers and misting sprays are one of my summertime beauty essentials. These are my handy tools when washing is not an option since blotting papers are great for getting rid of the shine while misty sprays are amazing in making your face feeling fresh.
You’ll Need (for Blotting Papers):
Rice paper or flimsy paper that goes into gift bags ( remember the ones from Victoria Secret? )
pocket-sized container ( I used the travel first-aid kit container )
How To: Simply grab a scissor and cut the rice paper or the flimsy paper into small sheets or any desired size to fit any pocket-sized container available and voila! you already have your blotting papers handy. With just a quick dab, both rice paper and the flimsy paper are sheer enough to suck up the oils in every shiny spots. Isn’t it awesome?
You’ll Need (for Misting Spray):
Witch Hazel (alcohol free)
Travel-sized Misting Spray
For the Misting Spray: You can buy witch hazel from Amazon or local drugstore. Simply decant/pour the witch hazel into your travel-sized misting spray bottle and spritz it on your face then let it dry. Since I have a combination oily skin, I use witch hazel because it’s a natural astringent that gently cleanses and conditions my skin without removing essential oils.
This works very well for me but if you have dry skin, make sure to buy the one that is alcohol free. In lieu of witch hazel, plain mineral water like Evian works great as well.
