Have you ever considered making your own, homemade, liquid foundation? It’s actually easy! You only need two ingredients, and you’re on your way to creating a great foundation.
Most common foundations include preservatives, which can be harsh on skin, particularly for those with sensitive skin. When you make your own liquid foundation, you know exactly what’s in it, and you don’t have to worry about toxic ingredients.
You can easily customize the coverage of your foundation by changing the amount of the ingredients you need. All you need to get started is a great moisturizer and pure mineral powder foundation.
With those two ingredients, you can make a natural-looking, gorgeous liquid foundation.
Choose the Ingredients
Start with a pure mineral foundation to ensure your foundation is all-natural. Great options include Pur Minerals and BareMinerals.
Both options are made from naturally occurring minerals that have been mined from the earth, including iron oxide, mica, zinc oxide, ultramarine, and titanium dioxide.
The minerals are ground until they are very fine and then used to make foundations and powders. Not only do they offer pigment, but the minerals provide anti-inflammatory effects and protection from the sun.
When choosing a moisturizer, try to find one that only includes natural and organic ingredients. One excellent option is Burt’s Bee’s Radiance Day Cream.
While the foundation can be made with most moisturizers, you do need to ensure that your loose powder is a natural mineral formula. This ensures that the pigments evenly blend, providing you with a beautiful, quality liquid foundation.
You’ll Need:
- Mineral powder foundation (or you can use loose powder or scraped pressed powder)
- Your favorite moisturizer
- A mixing brush or spoon
- A small container
① Step 1:
For Medium coverage: To make your DIY liquid foundation, combine a teaspoon of moisturizer with a teaspoon of your mineral foundation in a bowl. This will give you a foundation that offers medium coverage.
For Lighter coverage: Use more of the moisturizer, If you want lighter coverage,
For Full coverage:If you want more coverage, add more of the mineral powder. It’s easy to customize your foundation shade by using different mineral foundation shades.
② Step 2:
Using a spoon or a mixing brush, mix the powder and the moisturizer together. Continue mixing for a couple minutes until you have a creamy foundation.
With your mixing brush, gently mix the 2 ingredients together for a few minutes to create a creamy foundation.
③ Step 3:
Next, scoop the foundation into a plastic container that can be closed securely. Remember, since you don’t have any preservatives in the foundation, you need to use it in within a week after you make it.
Don’t try making a big batch, since it will go bad before you can use it all.
③ Step 4:
To apply the DIY liquid foundation, use a foundation brush or foundation sponge. Just apply as you would any other type of foundation.
You’ll love the all-natural, beautiful coverage that this DIY foundation offers.
