We’re bona fide lazy girls who are always looking for ways to get ready fast (a.k.a. sneak in those extra zzzs). So, I thought there was no better way to shave time off of our morning routine than finding ways to style our hair — overnight.
Thankfully, there are ways to wear damp hair overnight that allows lazy girls like us to wake up, give their locks a hearty shake, and go. This pin curls style will look cute while you snooze — and look seriously incredible when you awake. With little more than setting spray and bobby pins, you can get this trendiest hair look — all with next to little effort.
The Vintage Waves
A super-flattering hairstyle on any face shape, these sculpted waves are classic and lovely (but never, ever boring).
① Start with damp hair — either freshly washed, or spritzed down with a spray bottle. Then, add some grip to your hair with a good styling spray.
② Make a deep side part, and start creating pin curls. Simply take a two-inch section of hair and wrap it multiple times around two fingers (for a medium-sized curl).
③ When the hair is totally coiled around your fingers, carefully slip the hair off your fingers, maintaining the coil shape, and pin the coil flat to your head. Voilà — your first pin curl!
④ Continue grabbing two-inch sections of hair and winding them into pin curls, until your whole head is set, leaving your bangs or any short front layers for last.
⑤ To finish, shape your bangs or any face-framing layers into coils, and pin.
To make sure shorter front layers stay in place, you may want to add another bobby pin in an “X” formation — it’ll prevent any overnight slippage. Next step: sleep! (Or, alternatively, blast your head with a blow-dryer to dry and set the hair.)
⑥ In the morning (or after the coils have cooled from the heat of the blowdryer), carefully unwind each of the pin curls.
⑦ To finish the style and add a bit of polish, brush the curls out gently with a boar-bristle brush.
⑧ Set with a bit of hairspray, and run — your modern screen-siren waves will last all day!
