Castor oil is well-known for offering many health benefits. When used as a balm, it often addresses skin problems. It can be used as a tonic to help relieve problems with allergies.

Castor oil packs are not as well-known, but using a castor oil pack offers many benefits as well. The oil comes from the castor bean and provides a gentle, safe remedy for a variety of illnesses when you use the oil externally.

In the past, I have heard people talk about castor oil packs from time to time. I decided to start using the castor oil pack myself. I used it to deal with liver congestion and was surprised at the excellent results I enjoyed.

Castor Oil Packs – The Benefits:

  • Castor oil packs help detoxify the body and they have healing properties as well. These packs are often used to help deal with digestive orders, such as constipation.
  • Castor oil packs also help to stimulate your liver, helping your body eliminate toxins.
  • They also help to relieve pain, particularly the pain that comes with ovarian cysts, uterine pain and menstrual pain.
  • Using the castor oil pack speeds up the flow of the lymph system so it’s better able to eliminate waste and toxins from the body. These packs even help to reduce inflammation when applied.
  • Another benefit they offer is the ability to increase the flow of your lymphatic system. The lymph system helps to flush away toxins and waste, but your overall health and diet may make the system sluggish.

Whether you are dealing with a cold, the flu, menstrual problems, cysts or even ulcers, a castor oil pack can help. It makes a great option if you want to detox your body as well. However, if you are nursing or pregnant, you should not use a castor oil pack.

How does Castor Oil Work?

① How does a castor oil pack provide all of these incredible health benefits? According to studies down on castor oil, the oil has a unique chemical profile that includes ricinoleic acid. This acid only exists in nature in castor oil.

② The Association for Research and Enlightenment performed some studies that showed that using castor oil packs helped to increase the activity level of the body’s T-cell lymphocytes, which come from the thymus gland and the bone marrow.

③ It also showed an increase in the production of lymphocytes. The body uses lymphocytes to identify and kill fungi, bacteria, viruses and other invaders.

④ Not only does the castor oil help to boost your immune system, but it also seems to help balance your autonomic nervous system, improving the function of the digestive system and increasing the activity of the liver.

⑤ When you use the castor oil packs, and you absorb the oil through your skin, it results in several interesting events. First, the oil has a positive influence on your lymphatic tissue and the thymus gland, which results in an increase in lymphocyte count in the blood.

⑥ The lymph system also speeds up, and increased lymph flow helps to remove toxins and waste from the cells of the body, which contributes to reducing the size of any lymph nodes that may be swollen at the time. This results in reduced fatigue reduced depression and a general improvement of healthy organ function within the body.

⑦ As the toxins in the body are eliminated, your saliva pH becomes more alkaline, which shows an improvement in your health. Within your small intestines, your Peyer’s patches are better able to absorb the fatty acids that you take in, and those fatty acids are necessary for hormone formation and the formation of other critical components that are essential for repair and growth within the body.

There is a lot of science that backs up the use of castor oil packs, so you may want to try them. While the packs may be a bit messy, they can offer some excellent health benefits, which make them well worth dealing with a bit of a mess. Learn how to make your packs and try them to improve your health.

How to Do a Castor Oil Pack

Gather the supplies you’ll need:

  • Large piece of cotton or cotton flannel that will fit over the right side of your rib cage
  • High quality cold-pressed castor oil and hexane-free (you can get this from your health food store or order it online)
  • Hot Water Bottle or Heating Pad
  • Timer – clock, phone
  • Second Towel

Castor-1

Method:

① To get set up, you want to put on old PJs, in case you get any castor oil on them, and put an old towel down on your bed in case any drips onto your sheets.

② Then you will want to soak your flannel in castor oil. Don’t just dribble in it on, you need to actually soak the flannel in the oil.

③ Put the soaked flannel on your stomach, more on your liver if you want a general immune boost and detox or lower on your uterus and colon if you want help with female organs and digestion.

④ Quickly add plastic wrap or saran wrap and cover your now rather sticky, castor oil-ed up belly

⑤ Then put an old towel over the top, then your heating pad over the towel. Then lay down for at least 30 minutes, if not a full hour and let the castor oil pack do its work. When you are done, drink a big glass of water to help your body flush out the toxins.

⑥ Afterwards, store your flannel in a glass jar and reuse the flannel without washing it. Same with the towels, you can wash them but the oil never really comes out well, so just store them in a plastic bag and reuse them over and over for a bit before discarding.

If you decide to use a castor oil pack to deal with a particular health problem, you can use a pack for three consecutive days. Then, you need to take three days off.

This can be done for up to three weeks straight. After that, if you feel like your immune system needs a boost or you want to help your body detox, you can use a pack from time to time.

      @Eesha,
The oil’s benefits can be derived by topical application. And castor oil is known as a stimulant laxative, it works by increasing the movement of the intestines, helping the stool to come out.

Would this help with skin boils that seem to pop up around your lymph glands; i.e. underarms, breasts, lower torso, etc. And, if so would I apply the pack over the boil; if so should it be before the boil comes to a head, during healing period or after? THANKS
