Baking Soda Plus Coconut Oil Will Leave You With The Softest Skin Ever

Sensitive skin. Anyone who shares the same fate will tell you what a nightmare the selection of the right skincare products can be.

I have done my fair share of experimentation, some of which had disastrous consequences. These devastating consequences came with a surprisingly high price tag.

I’ve posted about the oil cleansing method, which I still think is the best for super dry, very sensitive skin.

Because of this inability to find the perfect gentle, yet effective skin cleansing and dead cell removing the product, I tried making my own.

It worked miraculously well, and it did not feel as if my facial skin was being torn to pieces. Also, this amazing DIY exfoliating substance is based solely on two essential ingredients.

This scrub is suitable for all skin types, including very sensitive and irritable skin. Ladies that have normal or oily skin can use it on a daily basis, and the ones that have sensitive skin can rely on it a few times per week.

Such a fine scrub is excellent for use on all body parts. The baking soda provides very mild exfoliation, so if you are interested in working on a rougher spot, you may want to try something that has larger particles.

A sugar-based scrub may be more suitable for such treatments.

If you want to enhance the effects of the baking soda and coconut oil facial scrub, you may consider adding herbs or essential oils to the mix.

Some of them have soothing and anti-bacterial qualities that will increase the effects of the beauty treatment even further.

Lavender and Calendula are two examples of soothing essential oils that can be added to the scrub.

The Incredible Baking Soda and Coconut Oil Scrub
When blended completely, half a cup of organic coconut oil and a quarter of a cup of baking soda will form a creamy, lotion-like substance that has fine particles inside.

Baking soda is capable of removing dead skin cells from the face very gently while the coconut oil nourishes and hydrates the skin.

You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup baking soda

Directions:

  • Mix the two ingredients thoroughly (make sure the coconut oil is in solid form.
  • Wash your face using a gentle cleanser and rinse with warm water then, rub a tbsp or more of the mixture between your hands to warm. Gently rub this on your face as well on your lips.
  • Use warm water to rinse off your face and apply moisturizer. Use this DIY exfoliator 2 or 3x a week but not as daily use.

      @Chaitra,
I have oily skin too and it doesn’t cause me breakouts. Just make sure to hydrate your skin by drinking lots of water (8 – 10 glasses a day).
