Exfoliating is a very important part of any skin care regime. Not only does it slough away dead skin cells, but it also unclogs the oil and dirt that lives in your pores and can cause breakouts. Most store-bought exfoliants contain harsh chemicals and dozens of questionable ingredients that have unknown benefits.

Instead of shelling out the money for a store-bought exfoliator, try concocting this homemade exfoliator using ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry.

As with any other exfoliating treatments, these should be used two to three times a week, not every day. And keep in mind that when trying a new skin care product (or in this case, recipe), test it out before you go to bed. That way, if you have an adverse reaction, you can give your skin time to recover while you sleep.

Exfoliating-face-mask-2-1
You’ll Need:

  • 1 or 2 Tbsp baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 3 to 4 Vitamin E capsules (squeeze the oil out of the capsules)
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix all the ingredients together in a small container and apply to face (this is enough for one thickly-applied face mask.) Gently work the mixture into your skin in a circular motion, then allow to dry for 10 to 15 minutes.

Rinse off with water, again using a circular motion for more exfoliating action.

The baking soda in this recipe provides the exfoliating properties as it gently scrubs away the dead skin.
The honey naturally hydrates the skin and is rich in antioxidants and has anti-microbial properties.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin.
Cinnamon has a warming effect on the skin which brings fresh, oxygen-rich blood to the surface to kill bacteria and detoxify the skin and gives a healthy rosy glow.

      @kruti,
      Use distilled water instead of milk and you can skip the honey.
