[thrive_drop_caps color=’red’ style=’1′]A[/thrive_drop_caps]s we age, skin starts to look dull. It’s frustrating. Why does it happen? One problem is the fluctuating hormone levels that many women deal with during peri-menopause, which promotes dead cell buildup in the skin’s pores.
Once hormone levels start declining, cell turnover begins to slow. This means that dry, dead skin cells are sloughed off as often, which can give your skin an ashen, dull look.
What Can You Do?
The dullness often occurs because your skin has an uneven surface, so you can bring back a natural glow by using exfoliation peels, scrubs, and masks.
Keeping skin hydrated and moisturized can help too since well-hydrated skin usually appears firmer. I have another great trick that you can use to improve your skin, brightening and hydrating skin for a gorgeous glow.
How to Make It
It’s easy to make your own DIY moisturizer to bring back your skin’s beautiful glow.
All you need is a bit of carrot powder and turmeric. Then, you add it to a fragrance-free, natural face lotion. Use the moisturizer in the morning, and it will heal skin, keep skin free from blemishes, and give you a healthy glow.

- Just sprinkle a little bit of carrot powder or turmeric powder in your daily facial lotion (particularly fragrance-free facial lotion) to add healing properties to your skin.
- Use turmeric as well as carrot powder to fight acne.
- If you simply want to fortify your daily lotion with beta carotene and vitamin A, you only need to use or add carrot powder.
Ratio of Ingredients:
① If you’re using just carrot powder or just turmeric powder, use 1/8 teaspoon of the powder and add it to a 16-oz bottle of your facial lotion, mixing well before application.
② If you want to use carrot powder and turmeric, measure out less than a half teaspoon of the two (combined) and add to a 16-oz bottle of face lotion.

If you cannot find carrot powder, it’s fairly easy to make it yourself. Take one carrot and slice it in very thin slices.Allow the slices to dry in the sun until completely dried, or about 4-5 days. After they are completely dried, add them to a food processor or blender and process until you have a fine powder.

The carrot powder is a great ingredient because it includes beta-carotene, which your body converts in a vitamin when you consume it. While carrots are well-known for their eye benefits, they are excellent for your skin as well.Carrots have natural antiseptic properties, they’re packed with iron and vitamins, and they help clarify and tone your skin.
Turmeric is a very powerful antioxidant. It also improves the elasticity of your skin and has natural antibacterial properties.

Don’t use Vaseline on your face. Vaseline can clog your pores because it is made of Petroleum jelly, which is the main ingredient in Vaseline.
