These days, its all about putting vitamin A in products. Here’s a way to get it for under $2. The popular big brands charge over a hundred dollars for many products carrying vitamin A. Carrots have the highest content of beta carotene (Vitamin A aka retinol) of all vegetables. I can swear by this recipe and think it also does wonders on blackheads. You can use to make this recipe with buttermilk instead of oats.
Benefits of Retinol to your Skin
Retinol fights fine lines and deep wrinkles. Whether you’re looking to prevent future signs of aging or hoping to appear years younger, here’s a homemade Retinol face mask to suit your needs. It not only reduces the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles, but also improves skin tone, the signs of photodamage and pore size. It increases cell production in the top layer of skin, so it helps to pep up the skin. Cells look smoother and skin looks younger.
I choose to make my own retinol treatment using the natural ingredients as I’ve read somewhere that most of the store-bought retinol products barely contain retinol or vitamins. So, why not treat your skin with the real source as a medium size carrot contain about 1015 mg rae of Vitamin A (retinol) in it. It is also a good source of Coenzymes Q 10 which helps with the reducing the visibility of crow’s feet.
1 medium size carrot
1 tbsp powder oatmeal (you can use yogurt or cream cheese is okay)
1 tsp honey
Peel the carrots and boil to make them soft or you can pop them in the microwave to steam them.
Once they are boiled and soft, you can mash them to create a creamy paste. I simply mashed them using fork but you can puree them using food processor.
Add 1 tsp oatmeal (or yogurt) to make a thick paste and also to hydrate skin as retinol tends to exfoliate and may be drying on skin.
Add honey to nourish your skin with anti-bacterial properties of honey. Then apply the creamy mixture into your face and neck area , let it sit for 15-20 minute and wash it off with warm water. Make sure to splash with cold water to close the pores and moisturize as usual. Cover and refrigerate left over mixture and use within a week.
