Are you always feeling tired? Maybe you’re sleeping eight hours each night, but you still can’t shake the fatigue. Well, many issues can result in regular fatigue. However, in most cases, dealing with the problem will reduce your tiredness so you can start feeling better.

I was constantly feeling tired, and I learned that I was low in magnesium, an essential mineral, and I also had an under-active thyroid. Once I dealt with these problems, my fatigue levels dropped, and I noticed that I had more energy.

Since I deal with a lot of stress, it causes adrenal fatigue, which I’ve also been working on. Of course, since we all lead such busy lives today, it’s tough to eliminate stress. Sure, it would be wonderful to hang out on the beach and lead a stress-free life, but for most people, that’s unrealistic. However, everyone can take measures to reduce stress.

Start Treating Fatigue By Discovering the Reasons You’re Tired

If you want to eliminate fatigue, and you’ve noticed that your energy levels are low, you need to figure out what is causing the problem. One option is to head to a naturopath, who can test your blood for various problems that can cause fatigue. However, some causes can be treated immediately, and you will probably see results quickly.

Many people they deal with low energy levels because they just aren’t getting enough rest. However, feeling tired all the time can be caused by a lot more than lack of sleep. Sometimes underlying issues can leave you feeling exhausted all the time, even if you’re sleeping for 8-10 hours at night.

9 Reasons You’re Feeling Tired All The Time:

① Adrenal Fatigue
Adrenal fatigue is one of the top causes of regular tiredness. If you deal with a lot of stress, or you’re not getting the sleep you need, you probably are dealing with adrenal fatigue, which occurs due to high levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. The adrenal glands found just above the kidneys, produce cortisol, which has a lot to do with the way your body deals with stress. If you’re dealing with stress, it often causes higher blood pressure and increased heart rate, which leads to increases in cortisol levels.

Usually, the body deal with the change in cortisol levels and begins adapting and calming itself down. However, individuals that deal with daily stress or those that deal with autoimmune conditions often have a hard time dealing with stress. They body cannot cope, and it taxes the adrenal glands.

Solving the Problem
To deal with this problem, you’ll need to make some changes in your lifestyle to reduce stress and its effect on the body. See if you start feeling better after reducing your stress levels. You can also have blood tests performed to check the levels of cortisol in your body, this way you can know if this is truly a problem causing your fatigue.

Steps to improve your adrenal fatigue:

  • Go to bed at the same time every night (preferably by 10pm, even on weekends).
  • Take a vitamin C supplement. Many recommend it for treating adrenal fatigue.
  • Only do low intensity exercise, like taking a nice relaxing walk down the street. Exercises like intense running or biking can put more stress on the body causing your cortisol to increase even more.
  • Limit stress in your life if possible, avoid stressful situations and practice deep breathing to relax or meditation.

② Thyroid Abnormalities
Undiagnosed thyroid abnormalities, particularly hypothyroidism, are common issues that cause fatigue. In fact, up to 30% of people have hypothyroidism but are undiagnosed. This medical problem occurs when a gland in your neck known as the thyroid, doesn’t produce as much thyroid hormones as it should. If you head to a naturopath complaining of fatigue, this will probably be the first thing checked.

Sometimes primary care physicians often fail to diagnose this problem based on the symptoms and even standard blood tests may miss the problem because the standards for normal levels are often overly broad. Many people have thyroid problems but aren’t diagnosed.

Solving the Problem
So, what can you do to deal with the problem? Start with a blood test that checks your levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). You can also have some tests that look at both the T3 and T4. Once you know that you are dealing with hypothyroidism, many methods can be used to treat this problem. Many naturopathic physicians will recommend that you take a natural supplement that comes from pigs to get your thyroid back on track.

③ Insomnia
Getting enough sleep is important and each person needs a specific amount of sleep. Some people only need to get six hours of sleep to feel great, while other people need to have 8-10 hours of sleep to feel great.

If you’re not getting the sleep your body needs, it can result in feeling tired all the time. In some cases, even if you’re getting enough sleep, you may not be getting good sleep. In some cases, low levels of melatonin make it difficult to get deep relaxing sleep. Sometimes this is caused by watching television, working on a computer or having lights on right before you go to bed.

Solving the Problem
Experiment to see how much sleep your body needs. Find a number that works for you. You can also start taking a melatonin supplement, or you can research ways to naturally increase melatonin levels, which will help you enjoy better sleep at night.

④ Stress
Stress causes so many problems in the body. Everyone deals with some stress, but some people deal with more stress than others do. Limiting the stress you deal with is important, and you can minimize the effects of stress using relaxation techniques.

The body goes into fight or flight mode when you’re dealing with a lot of stress, which ties this issue back to the previously mentioned problem of adrenal fatigue. Cortisol levels start rising, and you begin feeling tired.

Solving the Problem
If you can, work to reduce the stress you have in your life. Take time out for relaxation and reduce the number of commitments you have. Learn to say no. Many people today deal with too much work, and once you get home, you keep working. Going for a long walk, doing some yoga or working on deep breathing can help your body to relax. Studies show that taking a walk for just 10 minutes can significantly reduce stress hormones while increasing the level of feel-good hormones, known as endorphins.

⑤ Lack of Exercise, Circulation or Movement
Maybe you’re heard that sitting too much can kill you. This idea has a lot of truth to us. In our society, many people sit all day on the job, and then they head home feeling exhausted. The exhaustion has most people sitting on the couch watching television or relaxing on the computer.

If you’re not getting the exercise you need, the blood in your body isn’t circulating as it should. This often results in fatigue. If you find yourself sitting for long periods of time, getting up will leave you feeling better.

Solving the Problem
Even when you’re working, take a few minutes and get up, moving around for a bit. Do this every hour for the best results. Try doing some easy exercises by your desk or take a walk in the room to get the blood pumping.

⑥ Low Iron Levels

Some people have low energy levels because they are iron deficient. Low iron levels are more common among people that may not get the iron the need in their diet, including people with thyroid problems, digestive problems or those on a vegan or vegetarian diets. Some women with heavy periods also deal with low iron levels. Fatigue is the most common symptom of iron deficiency, also known as anemia.

Solving the Problem
Have a blood test done to see if your iron levels are low. If they are, you may need a supplement to bring your iron levels back to normal.

⑦ Low Levels of Vitamin B12
Common symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency include forgetfulness, restless legs, and fatigue. Sometimes your stomach may not absorb the vitamin the way it should due to digestive issues like leaky gut, Crohn’s disease, gluten intolerances and certain autoimmune problems.

Some medications, particularly those used to deal with acid reflux, decrease the body’s ability to absorb B12. People who eat vegetarian or vegan diets are more likely to deal with a vitamin B12 deficiency as well since this vitamin comes from animal products. This is a common problem, especially among older adults.

Solving the Problem
Have a blood test done to check your levels of vitamin B12. You may want to have this tested by a naturopath since some primary care physicians consider a wider range normal. If your levels are under 450pg/mL, then you should be concerned about this issue.

⑧ Low Magnesium
Many people aren’t getting enough magnesium. In fact, studies show that about 80% of people in the U.S. have low levels of magnesium. Unfortunately, magnesium deficiency results in many symptoms, including anxiety, weakness, and fatigue.

Solving the Problem
This is an easy problem to take care of, resolving your fatigue. Take time to learn more about magnesium benefits and find out how you can get more magnesium in your diet. While getting more magnesium in your diet is great, a better way to ensure your body gets the magnesium it needs is to start using magnesium oil. It absorbs fast and has a higher absorption rate than other supplements. Apply the oil and you’ll notice fast results.

⑨ Dehydration
Getting dehydrated is easy. Many individuals don’t drink enough water. Unfortunately, drinking sugar-laden beverages, such as sodas, often causes dehydration. When you’re busy, it can be easy to forget to get all the water your body needs. Studies show that failing to drink enough water each day can result in low levels of energy.

Solving the Problem
Start paying attention to your body. If you feel thirsty, start drinking water or another drink that will hydrate your body. Coconut water and some salt water drinks will help to hydrate your body while also replenishing electrolytes.
