Having a clean, soft, beautiful face helps you make a first impression. However, your hands get quite a bit of attention as well. You want hands that are soft, moisturized and beautiful. Hands that are wrinkled or dry can make you look older than you really are.
One problem that can affect the hands is dark knuckles. This issue can occur due to sun exposure, working regularly with chemicals or failing to care for the skin on your hands properly. The good news is that you can easily use home remedies to eliminate dark knuckles, giving you the smooth, lovely hands that you want.
Here are some easy home remedies to try for great results.
① A good scrub:
A good exfoliation is very important to get rid of dark knuckles as the main reason behind the them are accumulation of dead skin as previously discussed, therefore a good scrub can help you to remove all the unnecessary pile up of dead skin.
- lemon juice
- olive oil (optional)
Mix sugar and lemon juice ( you can add few drops of olive oil, but this is optional) and apply this on your fingers and scrub it in a circular motion for around five to ten minutes. This has to be carried out regularly to achieve the desired result. You can also try cutting a lemon in half and rub it over the skin for some time before bath. This also ensures whitening the skin.
② Bleach the skin naturally:
The dark knuckles can be bleached naturally by applying lemon juice and honey mixture for about ten minutes daily. Just mix 1 tbsp of honey and add few drops of fresh squeeze lemon juice and gently massage to the affected area. The lemon and honey combination works well as a bleach and helps in lightening the skin.
③ Gram flour pack for lightening the knuckles:
- Gram flour -1 tbsp.
- Raw milk- 2 tbsp.
- Lime or lemon juice – 3 drops
Mix these ingredients in a bowl thoroughly and apply it on the affected area and leave until it dries and wash it away. This treatment has to be done for around one month, and you will be able to see a visible difference. This pack helps in getting rid of the tan and making the skin brighter.
④ Almond oil:
Almond oil is really good for skin. The oil can be massaged on the knuckles and left for ten minutes. If done regularly this will help in reducing the pigmentation and make the knuckles lighter.
⑤ Vitamin E and milk cream:
Get Vitamin E capsules, it is easily available in all drugstores. Prick the Vitamin E capsule and squeeze the oil out into a small container and add 1 teaspoon of milk cream. Apply this mixture on the knuckles as well as other rough areas of the skin. Massage well for about ten minutes. This is a very good remedy for dark knuckles and it moisturizes the skin.
⑥ Pamper your hands:
Take some warm water, put some baking soda, glycerin as well as rose water. Now soak your hands in this water for minimum 5 minutes. This will help in decreasing the dark knuckles.
⑦ Pumice stone:
Pumice stone is very much a part of a manicure and it is mainly to scrub away the dead skin from the knuckles. You can use pumice stone daily while taking bath to rub your knuckles, this will help in lightening the area.
① Yogurt and Almonds
One easy home remedy to try is a mixture of yogurt and ground almonds. Mix a bit of yogurt and some ground almonds. This mixture can be used as a scrub, which will help to exfoliate your knuckles. To use, run water over the hands to dampen them. Then, apply some of the mixtures to hands, rubbing over knuckles for several minutes. Allow to sit on hands for 10 minutes. Scrub again and then use warm water to wash the mixture away.
② Yogurt, Cucumber Juice and Oatmeal
Combine sour yogurt, powdered oatmeal, and some cucumber juice together. This mixture can help to brighten your skin. Apply to hands, concentrating on the dark knuckles. Leave for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with cold water. Use this treatment several times a week.
If you have dark knuckles from sun exposure, papaya may help. Take some papaya pulp, applying it to hands, especially in the dark areas. Let the paste sit for several minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water.
④ Lemon and Honey
Lemon juice and honey are known to be good for skin, and it may help to lighten your knuckles. Combine some lemon juice and honey together. Rub the mixture on the problem areas. Allow to sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off. Do this once a day for a week or two for the best results.
⑤ Milk Cream and Vitamin E
Take one or two tablespoons of cream (milk cream) and mix it together with the liquid from 2 vitamin E capsules. Combine the ingredients together and then rub onto the dark knuckles. Allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse. Use regularly for 7 days to see improvement.
⑥ Baking Soda, Glycerin and Rose Water
Mix baking soda, glycerin and some rose water in a bowl that is large enough for your hands. Add some warm water. Soak hands for 5-10 minutes to help lighten the knuckles.
⑦ Milk, Lemon Juice and Flour
Mix 2 tablespoons of milk, 1 tablespoon of flour and add enough lemon juice to make into a paste. Apply the paste to the dark knuckles on your hand. Let it sit on the knuckles for 20 minutes and then use cold water to wash off the paste. Do this once each day for 30 days to help lighten the area. After a month, continue to use the treatment once weekly until the knuckles are sufficiently lightened.
