6 Best Fruit Peels to Use for More Fair, Beautiful Skin

Most of us eat fruits or turn them into juices while discarding the peel. Did you know, however, that the peel is incredibly beneficial and it can be used for all-natural skin treatments? The peels of numerous fruits contain essential antioxidants that slow down skin aging and boost the production of collagen.

They can also be used to make complexion clearer and more attractive. Are you ready to find out which peels your skin loves the most? Here is my list of the top six peels to use in making natural skincare products.

1. Orange Peel

Orange peel is an extremely good source of vitamins and minerals. It contains Vitamin C and Vitamin A that is extremely beneficial for skin. Vitamin C acts as a natural skin bleacher, it enhances your complexion and boost your skin natural radiance and glow.

Vitamin A helps in reducing wrinkles, dark spots and skin roughness. Orange skin are packed with antioxidants that boost skin elasticity, fight acne and protects the skin from free radical damage.

How To Do It:
You will need two tbsp of blended orange peel (or orange peel powder), one tbsp of raw honey and one tbsp of whole fat plain yogurt. Mix until you get a mask that has a smooth consistency.

Apply to your face and your neck. Sit down, relax and let the mask act on your skin for 20 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water and you’ll notice that your skin looks much healthier and younger immediately after you are done.

For Dry Skin:
You can add 2 tbsp of vitamin E oil, or you can use 2-3 vitamin E in gel form. Just prick/cut the gel open and squeeze out the oil and add it to the mixture.


2. Lemon Peel

The delicious lemon zest is also an excellent source of flavonoids. Flavonoids are incredibly potent antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress and keep cells healthy.

In addition, the peels of lemons have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that are essential for overcoming acne. It is rich in Vitamin C and citric acid that boost radiance and promotes a healthy skin.

How To Do It:
To make a face mask, you will need two tbsp of lemon peel powder or blended peel. Add a tbsp of fine brown sugar, a tablespoon of raw honey and a tablespoon of almond oil (or any whole fat milk). Stir until you get a homogeneous mixture. Scrub gently in your facial skin and wash your face.

Now take some amount of this mixture on your hand and scrub gently on your face and neck for 2 minutes, apply some more and leave this pack to dry for 10 minutes. Wash your face with cool water. This pack exfoliates your skin, removes dead skin cells and makes your skin visibly fair and smooth.


3. Pomegranate Peel

Pomegranate is one of the best natural sources of vital nutrients and microelements. The skin of the fruit is a source of antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin E. Needless to say, all of these are needed to maintain skin healthy and youthful. It is considered that skin of pomegranate contains powerful antioxidants than the pulp itself.

How To Do It:
Making pomegranate peel-based skin treatment is a really simple task. Mix two tablespoons of pomegranate skin powder, one tablespoon of raw honey and one tablespoon of lemon juice. You should get a homogenous, relatively thick paste. Apply to your face and keep the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash your face with lukewarm water and moisturize.


4. Apple peel

Apple peels contain large quantities of antioxidants, vitamins and essential minerals that skin needs to be healthy.

Going for apple peel treatments will also protect your sensitive skin from the effects of UV light. The skin of the apple contains polyphenols, an antioxidant that fights free radicals and protects against ultraviolet radiation that will help you slow down the hands of time and prevent the appearance of the first signs of skin aging. Apple skin is rich in vitamin C that prevents premature aging, promotes even skin tone and enhances skin glow.

How To Do It:
You will need two tablespoons of apple peel powder and three tablespoons of buttermilk. Mix the ingredients and apply the mask to your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Wash your face with cold water after you are done.


5. Banana Peel

Yes, the peel of the banana can be used in several ways that will benefit your skin. The peel of the delicious fruit is yet another source of powerful antioxidants properties that reduce oxidative stress and protects the skin from harmful ultraviolet sun rays. Banana treatments can also be used to reduce the redness and inflammation associated with acne. Banana skin is rich in potassium that keeps your skin hydrated, supple and moisturized.

How To Do It:
Getting the most of the banana treatment is really easy – eat the fruit and rub the peel on your face. Let it dry and rinse your face with lukewarm water. This treatment will protect your skin from the effects of UV light and it will also reduce the prominence of acne and gives a blemish free glowing skin.


6. Papaya Peel

Papaya is an excellent source of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) that have a mild exfoliating effect which lightens skin tone and prevents sagging skin.

Papayas can also be used to moisturize the skin and give it a beautiful, natural glow. Papain is a powerful enzyme found in the peel of the fruit and it can be used for the removal of blemishes and imperfections.

How To Do It:
Wash the papaya peels thoroughly and throw them in the blender to make a puree. After that, you can use 2 tbsp of the papaya peels puree and add 2 tsp of pure honey plus a tbsp of lemon juice. Let the mixture sit for 15-20 minutes and rinse/ wash your face with tepid water. Moisturize as usual.

      Yes, grapefruit peel is useful as well. The fruit is rich in vitamin C that helps boost collagen.

    Can I use fresh orange lemon or pomegranate peels. .as I can’t find the powders….

      You can make powders out of the peels by drying them out under the sun for 3-4 days. AND then, put them in the blender to powder them.
